Creative Correction by Lisa Whelchel (2000, Hardcover, Illustrated)

First and foremost, I love that this is a CHRISTIAN book. Lisa Whelchel does a great job sharing ideas about how to discipline your children in a loving way that honors God and teaches them not only right from wrong, but WHY they should obey their parents, based on scripture. She is clever and funny, and this is not one of those boring instructional books that you can't even stand to read the first chapter. Definitely a must-have! Thanks, Lisa, for writing this book!

She admits that she isn't perfect, but she does have some really original ideas with a Christian perspective. If you are trying to change the heart of your child and not just their behavior, then this book would be great for you. It really talks to you as a mother.

i like the ideas this book gives for parents who are struggling with strong willed children. Lisa is funny and yet shows us how to make wise decisions about discipline regarding our children.

I LOVE this book. I read it over and over again. For any mom that is out of ideas for that wild child this book is for you! I love all the ideas and the scriptures given for the correction. It is time someone wrote a book about childrearing that comes from the bible. It is also funny with her real life experiences. Great book!!!

This book has some great ideas, outside the usual, to correct various behavior issues. I do not agree with all of her ideas, I enjoy the creative ideas, and love the Bible verses to accompany different character training areas.
I would recommend this as a reference for all parents.
The age range is great, not just for preschool or older children.

The best book on parenting I have read in a long time. What makes it so helpful is that she gives suggestions along with advice. I bought it for all my kids to use with raising my grandchildren.

This is a wonderful book to inspire Moms and Dads to run the race to raise obedient children. It is so hard to fight the influences of this world. This has many, many examples of counteracting the negative. Thank you. I have read other books on raising children, but this one actually offers many ways to teach your child to truly become all that God wants them to be. It is very practical.

I originally got this book from the library, hoping to find some ideas of how to handle my toddler when he would not cooperate. I had to buy the book because I realized it was packed with great info that I would want to refer to over and over again as our children grew up. I am very pleased with the ideas I have read so far, and am very happy with the idea of it being a resource to me in the future as our children go through different stages in their childhood.

Lots of good ideas, some not so great. Will definately use some of her suggestions with my 3yr old and 2 yr old twins. Many ideas will be more helpful once the kids have more responsibility-grade school or so.

I purchased this book as a gfit to my daughter for her first Mother's Day. After I received it, I thought I should read this before giving her the book to make sure it was in line with my spiritual beliefs. As a new grandmother, I realize that correcting my grandchild is totally different than correcting my children because I don't make all the rules. Creative Correction was funny and enjoyable to read. Lisa Welchel shared very personal stories and gave practical advice. Lisa is realistic about children and that each corrective example may not work with a particular child's personality. I am hoping Lisa will follow up with another book when her children are teenagers. I would recommend any parent or grandparent to read this book and use it as a guideline for correcting children.

This book came very highly recommended to me by several homeschool parents. ILove it because Lisa Whelchel is funny, compassionate, and has her finger on the pulse of struggling parents everywhere. Whether you just need encouragement, parenting has become humdrum, or you face some real tough issues this book is super. It is applicable for all parents, but targets the younger aged children most strongly.
