Crash Proof by John Downes, Peter D. Schiff (2007, Hardcover)

I heard the author of Crash Proof, Peter Schiff, interviewed on a local talk show about 2 weeks ago. I was floored by what Mr.Schiff was saying. It's not that I didn't believe what he was saying, just that I was shocked to hear a well respected financial guru saying the same things that I already believed. This book spells out in very readable fashion what is really going on, financially speaking, in America today. If you listen to the government, we have a strong economy, fueled by America's shopping addiction. Our own government chooses to ignore several items, I won't go into as I could never tell it like the author of Crash Proof does. After listening to the local talk show host being very respectful to the author during the nearly hour long interview, the host showed at the end of the interview that he truly wasn't listening, or at least didn't want to believe the truth.
This is why any American that wishes to protect their wealth NEEDS to read this book, cover-to-cover, ASAP. The majority of Americans act like ostriches when anything threatens their personal wealth, don't be like the rest of the masses. Be a leader to your friends. Be the first person in your circle of friends to read Crash Proof and help your friends get prepared too, or just get a head-start on everyone. This book spells out very clearly where you should have your money invested, and approximately how long you can expect for these changes to come about. Trust me when I say this. YOU DON'T HAVE LONG UNTIL THE DOLLAR, AND THE STOCK MARKET TAKES A TUMBLE. Are you prepared?

Mr. Schiff's vision and economic expertise on the unraveling economic problems with the U.S. economy is stellar and portrays sound intellectual economic content. Before purchasing this book I looked at the good and bad reviews from Amazon, watched Mr. Schiff on the TV news and decided to give it a try. It was an eye opener. Mr. Schiff made predictions that have either already come to pass or we are experiencing them now! If you are looking for a refreshing outlook on investing and preserving your capital without the confusing back peddling and propaganda in the main stream media then READ THIS BOOK!!

PETER SCHIFF IS A LEGENDARY INVESTOR!!!! HES BOOK IS VERY INSIGHTFULL AND EVEN HES FUNNY HUMORES AND JUST GREAT BOOK

It's an easy-to-read, informative book.
Schiff, a staunch gold bug, (almost) convincingly presents his thesis that
the U.S. economy and the dollar will eventually collapse due to astronomical deficits and personal debts. Two drawbacks of the book are: 1) not much emphasis on the danger of incoming deflation/ depression before hyperinflation; 2) too much sales pitch for his company's services.
Overall, it's a helpful and interesting read.

Straight and to the point....GREAT ANALOGIES! 9th grade reading level, so ALL can understand such an great "American Economics, 101" EASILY!!!! I am seriously thinking of buying this book for many of my loved ones this Christmas..it's THAT IMPORTANT of a message from a man who is DEDICATED to educating the masses, and not just interested in selling books. He's like Robert Kiyosaki, Rich Dad, Poor Dad...same spirit.

A book to read if your want to survive these times.

There is no sugar-coating the economic crisis we are facing in this book. It is very honest and factual information. He gives the necessary historical and economics background in an easy to understand format and language. If you are researching how to protect your money in the impending dollar and global crash, make this book part of your collection.

I became interested in this topic when the financial "crisis" revealed itself. It is a very good introduction to the subject of the causes and effects of our unwise fiscal policies and banking practices which I found very useful.
The author's opinion that the individual's best choice to become "crash proof" is to place much of his savings in foreign currencies due to the imminent collapse of the worth of the US dollar. Events may or may not prove this approach sound but I remain unconvinced.
Still it is a good read and enhances understanding for even a layman such as myself.

Peter Schiff in Crash Proof has been 100% accurate in predicting the housing collapse 2 years before it occurred. The terrible impact on the American economy
and the causes are explained in detail in non political manner. Their is no excuse for the meltdown and last minute in a crisis 'rescue plan' with the book out in 2007. Should be required reading in Business schools.

Helps you understand, opens your eyes, and avoid the downfall of the United States economy. Thank You Peter Schiff. I am a blue collar worker (underground trona miner)that read and understood this book with ease. The different investment avenues shown in this book will be a great asset in safe gaurding my assets during these times.
