Crafty Chica's Art De La Soul by John Samora, Kathy Cano-Murillo (2006, Paperback)

I got the book for my mom's birthday, she is a huge fan of this artist. I saw it in the store for way more than I got it here on ebay, so I was very pleased.

This book is chock full of interesting and certainly colorful craft ideas. If you've ever wondered what to do with all those fabric scraps and bits of "stuff" collected over the years, this is the book that will get your creative juices flowing. While the author taps into her own cultural heritage (Latino/Latina) for her projects, the ideas can easily be used to showcase anyone's heritage or personal style. Examples of the book's projects range from using hardcopy books to make a tote "purse" (really!)to using slide mounts to jazz up strands of outdoor mini lights. Just charming! I also liked the several create-a-book ideas using fabric scraps and an assortment of doodads that many of us crafters just can't ever throw away. Now I know why I keep them! A truly delightful craft book, especially for anyone looking for something a little more unusual.
