From the Cradle - Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton is one white boy who can really bring the raw blues straight out of the deep South. No tricks or frills here, just gutsy and powerful blues. Clapton goes way back to his roots (to the cradle)and rips off some great blues.

If you're looking for smooth blues, polished up in the sound room, buy Clapton's more commercially successful "Me and Mr. Johnson." But if you want to hear ow he got there...put on your Bose headphones, turn it up, and sink into the Mississippi Delta -- raw blues!!

From The Cradle-Clapton, Eric (CD 1994)

I bid on this item, as I am a avid Eric Clapton follower. I have most of his recordings. I am particularly interested in his Blues recordings of which I did not have this one. I searched in many music stores, and stores where From the Cradle by Clapton was sold. I found several, but to be honest the pricing of this item was very steep. This is when I decided to go on E-Bay and try to locate it at a price that was more into my range, even though the item is used, it is still in excellent condition. The process of the bidding and the purchase, and the mailing to my amazement went very smooth. I also received the item in a very reasonable amount of time through U.S. Mail. All in all I would recommend anyone and all persons who are interested in certain items from A to Z to go to E-Bay and register so they can get their wants or needs attended to them as soon as possible. They will find that the whole process is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Clapton has brought out the Blues in a way that I believe no white man could do. The blues are written and recorded by many artists, but Clapton plays to ease the pain, that is what the blues is all about. He expresses the feeling from deep within his soul, just as the saying goes,"All along the path I tread, my heart betrays my weary head, with nothing but my love to save, from the cradle to the grave."

  Clapton at his best

This is Clapton at the absolute top of his game. A few short years after getting clean and sober for good, Eric delivers what I believe is the best guitar work of his career. What really makes this different from his previous work is the emotion with which he delivers the vocals. He gets back to his roots in the blues, and plays it the way he plays it best: live.

What more can you say about Clapton playin the blues except Sweet. A fine mix of songs done to perfection by the Master of guitar. Clapton has gotten better and better as he goes on.

Eric Clapton is one of the few white music artists that can really express the blues. His fustration in life, his anger, his grief comes through in the lyrics and through his guitar playing. One of his finest performances.

Review of 'From the Cradle' by Eric Clapton
Review created: 11/23/08

If you've never heard Clapton then you live on another planet where there is no access to Earth media. While he is certainly NOT the God he was once touted to be, he is, without doubt, one of the finest practioners of the blues around right now and has been for many years. This album, 'From the Cradle', finds Eric in excellent form both vocally and instrumentally. He is backed by a crack group of musicians. This is an excellent album and a must have for 'Blues aficionados' (hey...did I spell that right? Yes I did).

Clapton like BB King has so much depth and soul in his music that it is near impossible for anyone that loves the blues not to love both. A great album that will give you a lifetime of enjoyment.

  Decent Clapton
Review created: 07/10/09

This CD is decent, but not his best. If you are a die hard Clapton fan you will enjoy it. There is nothing wrong with it, just the choice of songs except for a few, weren't my favorite, but still done well. I have no regrets in the purchase.
