The clown prince of comedy...
This is a film I missed in its initial release. The charm of Jerry Lewis is in the lunacy of the characters he portrays. This film is a reminder of the great Paramount films of Jerry's early career. There really is no iron clad plot to this film, just 91 minutes of fun and frivolity. Milton Berle and Sammy Davis, Jr. join the mayhem, as well as Foster Brooks as a drunken airline pilot. Even though Jerry is older, he still does much physical humor in the film and Cracking Up remains a very good slapstick comedy. Being a Jerry Lewis fan, I got the VHS because I chose not to wait for the official DVD release.
