Crackdown (Xbox 360, 2007)

I have been playing this game for many days now. I must say it is addicting!! Trying to collect all the agility orbs or hiddin orbs. maxing out your stats which are; Agility,Fire Arms,Strength,Driving,and Explosives.Once you have maxed out your skills you'll be doing some crazy things!!! Explosive skills maxed out makes your blast radius bigger,making your exlosions HUGE!! Maxing out your agility allowing you to jump from roof top to roof top!!! HUGE jumps.. picture yourself as Neo from the Matrix.Its pretty much just like that,and its pretty much just as freaking awesome!! Maxing out your driving skills will allow your Agency vehicles to Transform into Crazy Modded Vehicular Beasts right before your eyes in real time. This has to be the coolest thing i have seen yet in the next gen console games!!! Maxing out your strength will allow you to pick up cars/semis!! and hurl them at the baddies wanting to put an end to your law enforcing career.Also picking up dead gang members and throwing them off buildings is also a fun thing to do! in all crackdown is worth the pick up! plus you get the invite to the Halo 3 beta so what do you have to loose???

the driving is not fun
and it overall is a bore that will be under your bed within a week

Have you dreamed of being a hero for a small city? Do you dream of leaping over tall buildings in a single jump? Do you wish you could shoot and destroy a bunch of thugs? Then dream no more, because Crackdown is the game for you.

In your quest to remove all crime from the city you build and improve your attributes in various ways. To improve your gun skills, simply choose and gun and shoot some gang members. To improve your driving skills, grab a car and run over some gang members. Of course the most fun is your explosive skill, and you can imagine how you can improve that! But be careful, because hitting seemingly "innocent civilians" will hurt your attribute scores.

The game is fun because you live the life as a police super agent destroying three different gangs. And when that gets on the slow slide, you can always turn your gun on the hapless civilians who are nothing more than a detriment to your attributes and interfere with your job. The game is eerily real when a civilian runs you over on the street then drives off. There is a very satisfying feeling watching their car explode in vengeance.

Whether killing gang members or civilians, by yourself or with a friend, Crackdown is an astounding game that is very fun, but intended for mature audiences. An all around great game, though the replayability is lacking, unless you are striving for those extra achievement points.

This game got a lot of bad reviews, but it is realy quite a good game. It is like those arcade games; it dosn't seem like it would be that much fun, but you'll play it for hours and have a realy good time. The only thing that I can complain about is that the common street people (not the emimies that you kill) have a terible AI, they will run right at you car when you honk your horn, and kill themselves, which will bring down your driving skill. Other than that it's a great game.

This game has a huge area of openness. You can tell they really tried to emulate GTA games. The main story for me was pretty fast (3 days game play). I think that there should have been more side missions other than just the racing ones. The super powers upgrade for your character was a new and pretty cool addition. Overall this game was fun, but it wasn't a GTA.

Crackdown is one of the most recent high profile releases for the Xbox 360. Not so much because of the game itself but the fact that buying Crackdown enables gamers to participate in the Halo 3 Beta. Many scoffed at Microsoft’s audacity to package the Halo 3 Beta with a game that many gamers viewed as poor. This is not the case (no surprise given my first impressions) and while Crackdown is by no means a memorable, epic, or innovative game, it does get one thing right- Fun. The game is just an all out blast to play- plain and simple.

Gameplay: 9/10
Pros: Game is absolutely amazing in Co-op. You and your friend (or enemy) can do whatever you want and be wherever you want in the game world. Goof around and enjoy at your own will! The superhero attributes that your character receives is also genius and makes the game more and more fun as you jump higher, get stronger, and blow things up bigger.
Cons: The “sandbox” lacks some of the diverse mini-games and missions of the Grand Theft Autos, Saints Rows, etc. You Race, Jump, and Kill bad guys- that’s it. If played solo, the single player game can be beaten relatively quickly and with less enjoyment.

Graphics: 8/10
Pros: A unique- comic book style look that is by no means as sharp as most games on the 360. However, the streaming engine/world is much more impressive than the old GTAs on PS2/Xbox and there’s no draw issues or anything. The Physics and explosions are what really save the graphics from dipping further.
Cons: Not nearly as impressive or wowing as most Xbox 360 games…except when a pile of cars explodes from your rocket.

Sound/Music: 8/10
Pros: Explosions, guns, and all the other sound effects work great. The announcer is fun and catchy in a campy, lame way.
Cons: Music and radio stations in the cars is a skimp and a joke- the standard has been set as far as realistic radio stations go in these games. Announcer is very…informative and talks a lot…I don’t mind him, but I can see where if you don’t like the campy feel- you’ll be very annoyed.

Lasting Appeal: 7/10
Pros: Co-op probably has near infinite replay value…especially since you are free to come up with any antics you like. The game’s playability and great gameplay makes it hard to put down.
Cons: Lack of variety in missions and what you do in Pacific City hurts. As a solo experience, Crackdown is definitely not worth the pricetag.

Here’s where the Halo 3 effect comes in…for me playing the Halo 3 Beta was definitely a selling point (well done Microsoft). Luckily, Crackdown is not a total bust and actually a game that captures being a super-hero a lot better than some of the Marvel and D.C. titles out there. It’s a blast to play…and Halo 3 with it just bumps it up another notch.

I really like this game the ability to jump really high is amazing its as if u have super powers. And for once its a game where u are a cop not a gang member like GTA and Saints Row. Great Game. Recomended. Co-Op is good too

i thought gears of war was fun but when i got my hands on this game gears of war no longer was my favorit

The game is great. The Co-Op is the greatest since Halo 2. This game is Grand theft auto but from the cop point of view. I reccomend it.

Best Co-Op game out there. Although GTA was the first of its kind and always gets respect Crackdown is hands down better. Stats are kept of character all according to your merits. Actual game skills will increase as well. Get ready to log in some hours... very addicting!!

rhm-1999 is a tool (driving is very similar to any of the GTA games, and gets better as you upgrade that skill)...if you like other games from this genre, you'll love crackdown.

At first, the game can appear to be kinds of boring. After you get your skills up and get the hang of the controls, it is actually a lot of fun.

Not to mention the fact that you get an invite to Halo 3 beta for buying it, which almost justifies the purchase alone.

Great game. I play plenty of games and this was a reasonable amount of fun for the price. The game play is quick with missions passed in little time. The ability to find "orbs" with ability and agility is a great addition. The game resembles that of GTA, on steroids, with a lot less story. The basic controls are easy, and if you look for them the presicion controls like, scope sighting and zoom can be used with ease, making the game a little more fun. All in all the game is good, great if you can find it cheap.

The shipping was very fast. Most of all the seller was very accurate about the information. I was very pleased with the way the seller handled my situation. he believed i was going to make the purchase which is very hard to do on the internet. Very good to do business with. I hope I do good business with him again.

Easy controls make learning to play easy. Lots of killing so may not be acceptable for all familys.

Good fun, have been playing for over a week and still holds interest.

This game is like Grand Theft Auto with super powers. You are given targets to eliminte and as you kill ordinary gang members and find special orbs throughout the city your skills increase in driving, weapons, agility, explosives and strength.

The game is open ended so as you drive around town, the game's guide (voice) tells you there is a nearby mission.

You can also participate in races around the city by driving through markers like the the game midnight run. The city scenery is nice and there is no loading when moving from one part of the city to the other. You also don't have to wait for the city to be drawn like GTA.

As you kill gang members and take their weapons, you can take them to one of your supply depots located throughout the city and you will always have that weapon for the rest of the game.

There are many challenging achievements that will keep you busy and interested for weeks. Of the 1250 achievement points only 60 points (3 achievements) require co-op mode. Achievements range from doing stunts in vehicles, exploding objects in a certain time frame, killing a certain amount of gang members within a certain timeframe, locating targets, unlocking depots, car and rooftop racing, etc. Of the 1250 achievement points 250 come from downloadable content for 800 M$ points. Some of these extras achievement points require co-op mode.

This is a really good game for the person who loves fast paced destruction as well as a good story line.

This is a very good game but one draw-back is that it can't support co-op mode under single machine.

I like the game alot. There's a lot of freedom in the game. I also like how you can free rome on system link. I just wish you could play multiplayer on once console.
