The authors of this book have written what has become a classic in the field. Since its first publication in 1994, this book has assisted many adult survivors learn to live again. Although rather lengthy for a self-help book (601 pages), it is written in a down to earth approach.
The authors did not intend this book to replace professional assistance in dealing with the debilitating effects of childhood abuse. Instead it can be a first step for adults to learn that it is not them but instead events in their life which have had a negative influence on them. This book needs to be read by all professionals dealing with adult survivors. It could be a workbook in a retreat or group setting.
