Cotton Theory Quilting-Fold and Finish Method

I have actually started at least 5 "regular" quilt tops, but the quilting part has intimidated me, so they are not finished. With Betty Cotton's fold and finish method, where you quilt a small piece first, then assemble the quilt, it is so easy and quick and you get instant results. You never have more than two inches on the right side of your needle, so there's no bulky quilt to maneuver. Also, the quilting is always done in a straight line down each strip. We can all sew a straight line! Just put the pedal to the metal and GO! I love it! I've made the large table runner using the Courthouse Steps pattern-it took Grand Champion in the Handicrafts Division of our state fair here in Fairbanks, Alaska. I've also made several placemats and table toppers and am going to try the tote bag next. The book does a great job of laying out the order of pieces and making the most of your batting. I've never seen that in a quilt book before. I can't wait for her next book to come out on applying this method to traditional blocks (which some of the individual patterns already do), and then the book after that on wearables. I also want to take the training and become the first certified teacher in Alaska. Keep up the GREAT work, Betty! Vicki Rayburn ilove40below@yahoo.com
