  My Favorite Cookbook!
Review created: 07/10/09

This cookbook, written by the Jr. League of Monroe, LA, is filled to the brim with wonderful recipes that simply tastes delicious! I have over 40 cookbooks and I STILL find myself searching through this one first before cooking for a get together or simply dinner for my family. The reason being that most everything I've ever cooked from this cookbook has wonderful flavor and always seems to be the hit of the party! It is filled with lots of traditional southern cooking and especially Louisiana style cuisine. I actually buy this book for gifts for new brides as I know it will be become a treasure in their home. Can't say enough about it and I encourage any and everyone to purchase a copy. If you can't find one on ebay, you can purchase it through the Jr. League of Monroe, LA.

  Just as described.

Great Cookbook It was recommended by my daughters mother in law. She really enjoyed the cookbook. It has a lot of old fashioned cook by scratch and canning ideas.

Stick to the salads and the deserts

A fine southern cookbook.
Trying most of the meat and vegetable recipies will put you at great risk of heart failure by the age of 27 but the salad and desert recipies are great.

One exception to the caviat above, there's a ham recipe that involves ginger ale that's absolutely fantastic.

Overall highly recommended.

Thrilled to have this ... my first one was borrowed

Can't say enough good things about this cookbook. Except I had request to borrow it all the time. The one time I lent it out...it never came back! What can I say other than the borrower said it was misplaced...and that was 2 years ago...still missing.

So many wonderful recipes that look good and turn out even better when prepared!
In a way, the "misplaced" book was a high compliment to the Jr. League who produced the cook book, but a heart breaker for me. I had my favorite dishes marked, notes on the side etc.

I bought three because I want my two daughter to have their own!

Thanks so much.

I knew when I saw the discription that I had to have this cookbook. Not only is it an older country cookbook, which I like but also because of all the pictures/illustrations and history about the area! I decided to buy it because that part of the country is an area where some of my ancestors were from!
