The Corset Diaries by Katie Macalister (2004, Paperback)

The book sounded interesting. This was very humorous. Even though the book contained explicit sexual content it was not like reading porn. Definitely a fun read.

You can always count on Katie Macalister to bring you an uplifting, deliciously hilarious, feel-good romance. Every book I've read by her has made me laugh. Of course it always ends the predictable way...girl gets guy, happily ever after, but it's the trip to the happily-ever-after that cracks me up. She makes heroines out of less-than-perfect women. They are generally not stick-thin, not pampered, not supermodels. It brings a realism to the books (though they may have far-out, but believable plots). I'm loving the fact that the women have flaws. They aren't portrayed as perfect or skinny or "the key to every man's desire". That gets old. She writes refreshing books that have lasting-power on my bookshelf. The general plot of this one is: an ordinary, history-loving, chubby girl gets the hunk-a-licious man...and alot of trouble. And makes her fair share of hilarious mischief in the meantime. It's a good book...a GOOD book. I'm stocking up on her books. :) I also give it a 11 out of 10.

This is a really fun read. I laughed all the way through. The heroine is weight challenged but that doesn't stand in the way of her adventure of a lifetime. She gets to be a part of a reality show that has modern day people trying to exist in an Edwardian world. She discovers her inner swan, gets the man of her dreams, all while having to contend with bodily functons going amok. I don't think I have ever laughed as much while reading until I found Katie Macalister...Great Author

this book was great. you really come to adore the main character. she is quirky and silly and i think someone who alot of people can relate to. this book made me laugh and i was sad when i was done reading it...
