  How Lame!
Review created: 06/18/09

It took a lot of willpower to make it all the way to end of this without falling asleep or slitting my wrists. Really dumb plot, even dumber script. The character personalties are totally off the wall, idiotic. The acting is a painful display. Featuring the absolute lamest serial killer ever! Give me a break!
Don't waste your time.

This is a great movie...I am glad to have found it and added it to my collection. This is one of Sigourney Weaver's great performances as well as Holly Hunter..

This is one of my very favorite suspense movies to watch over and over with an outstanding cast as well as storyline. Never a dull moment and who would ever think of Harry Connick Jr. as a serial killer?

  Great Thriller!

I saw this movie years ago when it 1st came out in the 90's & I really liked it--I couldn't remember all the details, but it was definitely just as good the 2nd time around. Sigourney Weaver delivers a remarkable performance as a retired forensic psychologist that is currently suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder & severe agoraphobia after a near-death experience with a serial killer. After deadending several times, Holly Hunter & Dermot Mulroney (both of whom are also excellent) as the detectives that enlist the help of Sigourney Weaver's character to try to catch the latest psychopathic murderer. It's a riveting story; well-acted, directed & filmed.

I bought it because I get really unhappy with network censoring and commercial interruption. I think this one is done well because they picked the best possible actors for the job. An example of what I think good choices are would be seen in Patton. Not even Patton himself could have played himself and got the same point across. My brother totally dislikes Dennis Franz as a cop but then somebody has to do that job and Franz is clearly the best possible choice.
I am a Holly fan and really enjoy her work. My wife who is my really best guide as to what is good and what is not liked it and said she is voting to put the disk into the "rainy day for her to watch it again" drawer. This a good review from her.
To qualify what I like and don't like------- read on.
With music and drama I like for the work to be straight forward and without "artistic license" If you don't understand what I mean by this an example would be that I feel that paintings should look like photographs. I don't think that "abstract artists" could actually paint a portrait as I don't feel they have the skill which is why they paint junk. Anyone can paint abstract and smeared images on canvas blindfolded. So called songs that take 3 minutes of my time and contain only 4 words repeated 1000 times are junk. Les Paul and Chet Atkins are Artists. The Music and Presentation of the 12 Girls Band is Art. Hitchcock is as far into abstract as I care to go.

  Serial Killer Copier
Review created: 09/07/06

Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter work together to catch a serial killer that is coping famous murders in chilling detail. It is grusome in places but subject makes it neccesay. The plot makes tension perfectly. There are twists and surprises every step of the way. Harry Connick Jr. plays a breakout role as a convicted serial killer in prison. I will warn you that you will want to make sure that your doors are locked and burlary alarms are one after seeing this movie. Profiling looks very danderous as a profession.
