Synopsis Charles Kipps details the underground adventures of Kevin Maher, the highest paid informant in the history of the DEA. After an early start down the road to a life of crime, Maher began working for various law enforcement agencies, fulfilling the role of an undercover officer without the behavioral restrictions which come with carrying a badge. He works on cases ranging from robbery to homicide, but his biggest bust comes when he befriends and betrays a high-ranking member of a Colombian drug cartel. In 2009, Maher's ex-wife Beverly Merrill, whose drug use and criminal exploits are documented in the book, re-emerged as one of the subjects of the reality TV show REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW JERSEY, though she had changed her name to Danielle Staub.
