Cool Runnings (DVD, 1999)

My daughter wanted to add it to her collections of her favorite movies. Excellent purchase. Ebay is an excellent place to add DVD to collections.

I have always loved this movie and was thrilled to find it on ebay at such a reasonable price! I sorta "grew up" with this movie and wanted to share it with my pre-teen kids. It is a feel good movie that is entertaining and makes you think about prejudices. Perfect movie for a family night!

COOL RUNNINGS is funny without resorting to sexual jokes or smutty language. It's the story of the first Jamaican bobsled team to make it to the Olympics. If you've watched other underdog sports movies (THE LONGEST YARD or DODGEBALL), you may THINK you know the outcome. But COOL RUNNINGS is not only more realistic than most of these movies (how often in REAL LIFE does a ragtag team of misfits with little training or equipment actually defeat EVERYONE else?), it teaches a valuable lesson by re-defining the meaning of success. The Jamaican bobsled team members are heroes; they don't have to crush all opposition to be "winners" at their sport. Sometimes, doing your best IS enough. Too bad more underdog sports movies can't portray this message as effectively. A+!

Its funny and I like it, I like how it was put together and i remember watching it as a kid, that's why i bought it now.

My husband and i both really love the movie 'Cool Runnings'. He loves the actor John Candy and I to watch the guys bob-sledding, i think its a really neat sport on ice.

I had Cool Runnings on VHS but I no longer have it and I wanted it to get it on DVD anyway. I couldn't find it in the stores, so I tried e-bay. It took a few tries (lost a couple bids) but I finally won an auction. Obviously a popular movie even though it is a little older. It doesn't matter how many times I have seen it, I always laugh and I always cry. I just really enjoy watching this movie.

"Cool Runnings" was probably the first movie I ever saw "based on a true story". I've loved it ever since! I really enjoyed the humor, which wasn't simply slap stick, but was very witty, too. Doug E. Doug made the movie extremely funny, while John Candy was immortalized with his great acting ability and humor.

The story is about the first Jamaican bobsled team that made it to the Winter Olympics of '88. However, the 4 Jamaicans do not begin with the ambition of being Gold Medal Bobsledders. Instead, after 3 of the 4 miss out on their chance to go to the Summer Olympics in South Korea for track. Enter John Candy, an American bookie who was originally a 2-time Gold medalist in Bobsledding (however, he was also disqualified and told never to compete again because he cheated on his last sled race!). Candy helps the team of 4 (Derice, Sanka, Yul, & Junior) become an unbeatable force, and they make it to the Winter Olympic tryouts in Calgary! From there, they must overcome the pressures of being a team that is not from a country covered in ice, without a legacy in the sport, and the trials of becoming a team worthy of respect.

I've enjoyed "Cool Runnings" time and again, and I do not believe this classic will ever...EVER...lose it's place in my heart!

GREAT MOVIE WITH AN AMAZINGLY WIDE SPREAD DETERMINATION BEHIND EACH OF THE COOL RUNNING PARTICIPANTS TO MAKE IT TO THE OLYMPICS...............I LOVE THIS MOVIE AND STILL GET A FEELING OF PRIDE FOR THEM AS THEY CROSS THE FINISH LINE.

Since I first saw this movie YEARS ago, it was always a favorite. I went years without seeing it yet still wanted to. It is just as good as I remember years ago. Excellent movie. Pretty funny. True story yet quite funny - they keep ya laughin man!!!

This is one of my favorite shows and I have watched it from start to finish repeatedly whenever it has been available. Now I wown it and I take great joy in watching the challenge and enthiusiam of the actors. it is an exciting show and I am glad to have made this purchase.

Very funny and great sense of teamwork and overcoming past mistakes. We laughed so much during this family friendly movie. My kids ages 10-16 asked for this by name for Christmas this year.
