Jamie Oliver is a wonderboy in the field of cooking. The "Naked Chef" is a joy to read for any dedicated foodie who loves cookbooks. I own almost all his cookbooks, but this book is really a special treat.....the ultimate "how to" cookbook. It does lack the colorful pics that have been scattered throughout his other cookbooks, but the cookbook is a timeless, modern day manual that we should all have in our kitchen. Oliver is very keen on using local,fresh, seasonal,& organic, ingredients. His cookbook comes alive with enthusiasm and like many of his other books, you will be surprised at the culinary insights he provides.
The cookbook covers many sections from salads, which are sublime, to the fresh egg pastas, where Jamie gives excellent instructions on making 6 classic, fresh pasta shapes. There are diagrams on cuts of meat and chicken that go into minute detail. I appreciate this since so many cookbooks seem to just give you the basic cut and let you try and figure out the rest. I highly recommend adding this cookbook to your collection, or giving it as a gift to a beginning cook who is enthusiastic about learning to cook the right way.
