Contact (DVD, 1997, Special Edition)

Eloquently opened up my mind to the questions and conepts of space, time, afterlife, extraterrestrials, dimensions, mind travel, religion, and math as an actual language. And, how they could relate to each other.

Jodie Foster expresses her deep, loyal love for her (father) as I tend to remember my own father. The trip into space takes you along, it's just fantastic. I've watched it many times, and each time I enjoy it.

Great movie!! Contact is great combination of adventure, love, duality, technology, and heartbreak. I highly recommend this movie to everbody.

Interesting and thought provoking, this Jodie Foster film is fabulous! The special effects are great. I highly recommend this movie.

In the first place, I love Jodie Foster, and I am interested in topics that are dealt with excellently in the movie: science, religion, and the Theory of Relativity. I thought the sentence: "Mathematics is the only truly universal language" makes perfect sense.
It is a movie I will watch over and over again.

I love Sci-fi movies and this one was great! I happen to like some Jodie Foster movies and this was recommended by a good friend and I was not disappointed. It was all I expected and more.

Excellent movie, but does drag just a little from time to time with the story line. Overall, the movie is one that should be part of your collection to enjoy when you get a ham radio craving. KIDDING. It is a very good movie, but is a little slow with all the added extras.

This is an excellant movie made from Carl Sagan's Book, Contact. Rarely the movie captures the essence of the book from which it was made, but this movie does put the images to the meaning. Fantastically adapted from Carl Sagan's pages, the movie bring the possibilites home to us. This concept opens up one's ability to think beyond into a realm never realized, and presents us with a "What If?" to understand what we would do in a similar situation. You will like this movie, Sci-Fi buffs will like this movie, surrealists and conservatives alike. Enjoy!

This movie really makes one think about God and His existence. My daughter who is in junior high loves this movie. It would be a great movie for a youth fellowship group to watch and discuss. I read this for an Astronomy class.

& really liked it. It is a great story line. It's one of Jodi
fosters best.It keeps your attention& really makes you think about are we really the only ones on the planet! I dont think so.

If you want a movie that sparks your imagination; THIS IS IT. A perfect mix of science and science-fiction and a tinge of religion. This movie does a great job of building the characters and holding your attention. A fantastic movie to watch with the whole family. I have watched this movie at least 20 times and it holds my attention every time. It also shows to young girls that they can accomplish anything. Jodie Foster brings her character to life and she is (as always) a great actress.

Just another great movie that every Sci-Fi fan should have. If you don't have it, get it! I have watched this movie at least 10 times and I'm still not tired of it.

Do yourself a favor and watch this movie. It's one of Jodi's best performances!
The story is great and detailed but most importantly somewhat realistic. Carl Sagan wrote the story..what else is there to say? I love Sci-fi and this does not let you down in action and special effects whaich are not over done. The intro of the film is wonderful and worth admition alone. I find myself craving this movie at least twice a year.

This movie may confuse some (I know someone who, by the end of the movie, thought she had just seen something akin to a sci-fi alien b-movie), but this artful epic is nothing of the sort. Like any great work of art, it challenges its audience, and the conclusions are ambiguously genius. Though it is entertaining and thrilling at points, it is not so much science fiction as intellectual drama. Put simply, you won't be disappointed. Buy the DVD and watch it over and over, as it never gets old.

This movie is so well done that it leaves you with the realization of a possibility of life beyond. Absolutely riveting story with wonderful graphics and consistent scientific presentations. This is a movie to see many times just to see all the telescopes being used around the world tracking our universe.

great movie. seen before and really liked it then. had to have for my collection. cast was great. enjoy the fact that there is possible life out there.

This movie is about a woman obsessed with knowing whats out in space. She gets blueprints from radio transmission from space aliens explaining to her how to build a spacecraft that can travel through wormholes and navigate her to their planet.

Billions and billions of milliseconds ago, the late Dr. Carl Sagan opened up the universe to me. The awe I experienced watching "COSMOS", in my youth, has never since been equaled. Though Einstein's universal speed-limit, precludes our possibility of such contact, left to our own devices. I believe that our mathematical limits are limited by our imagination. We must have faith, as the movie suggests, that contact will be made TO us, if not BY us. "Because if it's just us ... it would be a pretty big waste of space."
