Conny - Germany's Teen Heart Throb.

Having reviewed another volume in thie series of Conny singles by Bear Family, I can tell you that it is no surprise that this one lives up to the impeccable standards of all Bear Family reissues. Quality and perfection seem to come naturally to them so I don't see any likelihood of change in that department.
As for Conny herself, she went from being an early 1950s Shirley Temple with an impossibly huge (and rather funny in retrospect) bow in her hair to a cute and very talented teenager with many hit records and some very cool teenage rock and roll musical films to her credit. Viewing Conny from a skewed American point of view, I found her fascinating. She was everything I wanted in a girl. She was cute, she was lively, she was funny, she was talented AND she was German. How cool is all that? And besides, I always liked older women. (Conny was a little bit older than me when I was a kid.)
Make some fond memories for yourself and buy this CD or at very least, buy it to hear the best of what was going on in Germany at the time in terms of teen music. This very telling collection includes, twist music, swing, latin, and even some rather well done dixieland. All this by way of selling teen music to teens AND to their parents. Well done, enjoy it and have fun.
