The Confetti Cakes Cookbook by Christie Matheson, Elisa Strauss (2007, Hardcover)

OK....to be fair, I bought this book just to ooh and aww over the pictures and perhaps dream that one day I might decide to make one of these spectacular cakes. What surprised me most was the amount of information included in the book. Everything is very concise. This book was done to teach techniques that result in beautiful and creative artwork. She generously provides insider tips and walks you through all the steps. The book is full of stunning photos, ideas, and advice. If you love to bake creatively already or are just a beginner, I don't think you'd be disappointed if you try one of these creations.

This book is beautiful and has many good suggestions, however, it is cetainly not a book for the everyday baker. The cakes are beautiful and by reading , it sounds like it wouldn't be hard to make some of these cakes however, they are very complicated. There are also some errors in the book. One recipe was written wrong and a separate piece of paper came with the book, explaining the change. This was a significant mistake and shouldn't happen with a book this expensive. I also baked a cake, following the instructions and it was overdone even though I did not bake it as long as recommended.
