WARNING! This is NOT appropriate for early teens (who it is often marketed to), or anyone who has NOT dealt with issues surrounding sexual abuse. The abuse in this story is graphic, gory, and unsettling for many people with or without a sexual abuse history. This is a girlfriend tell-all story about the life of a little girl who grew up to become one of the greatest hip-hop whores of all time (that was the writers quote -not mine). The good news is that she woke up one day and realized she was a drug addict with a kid and she needed to get some skills. The lesson that wealth cannot be applied to the outside of your body before it is created from inside your self is the whole point of this book and it takes some awful turns before you get that message.
If you are college age women you will find this a book amazing and sickening. If you are a mother you will find this to be a very sad and pathetic recounting of how bad life can get for so many young women. If you have any psychology or counseling background you will read a very sad story about a small child that is abused from her parents and grows into a thirteen year old girl that is brutally raped with no therapy, and then a sixteen year old runaway that using sex as a means to get love and who sells her body to the lowest bidder over and over again. We then see that girl get married and beaten everyday by an abusive husband who she has no will to leave.
She then gets an apartment with the help of some people in the entertainment industry and then she really gets eaten alive. We hear the steamy stories of her affairs with the elite of hip-hop and is just gets keeps going from bad to worse as the drug habit and the money problems escalate and she ends up homeless with her kid. The majority of this book is about the horrible life a beautiful woman and party girl can have when she sells her soul and her body to the world. There are two chapters of hope in the whole book.
The audio to this book was riveting and the author also reads the story so it really came across as a girlfriend tell-all. If you like a saga of a behind the scenes of the music industry this is one for the books-literally…

I thought the book was interesting and recommend anyone who enjoys reading about celebrities in the hip hop industry. I read it in about 2 days which means it was good enough to read so quickly. I thought some of the book seemed exaggerated but yet believable. If it is all true then this girl really had it tough...I enjoyed reading it because Ms. Karen allowed us to peek into the life of celebrities dark side where most are too reluctant to even consider. The public refuses to believe some celebrities are capable of such things as drug use, infidelity and much more until you read a book like this. I enjoyed reading this book and hope others do too.

This book is more than "tell me who you slept with." It is a story about a young lady who through drugs, sex, and lies made a change and a difference in her life. She is exposing the life of wanting to be excepted, but must did only for her physical. How could she be seen as more than a "video" girl? Find out in her book...

I actually read this whole book in a total of 4 hours....it will totally suck you in and you really can't put it down. This book graphically describes the pain and suffering this woman went thru from a very early age and can really show you how important it is for young girls (and boys) to have a parent or guardian to care for them cuz if not their lives just don't turn out great all the time. At times this book does sound exaggerated but it is believable. Its great that someone finally spoke up about all the dirt that goes on in Hollywood. People think that the stars are perfect and some were upset that she actually put all the bad things out there with names and all but that is what people need to know especially young aspiring actors and actresses. It is a DOG EAT DOG world.

It was a pretty good book. I NEVER read but I was intrigued by the hype. I read it in an 8 hr shift at work so it was interesting enough. The sleaze in me wanted more details into the escapades but overall I was satisfied

I hate to admit it, but I couldn't put this book down. Read it in 5 hours. Basically a woman getting paid to tell famous people's business and air her dirty laundry.... but I guess morbid curiousity got the best of me. It's no Pulitzer Prize winner, but definitely entertaining and will leave you amazed that she would admit half this stuff!

Hot and Dirty Book!Very good book if you are interested in the dirt behind hip-hop. It goes into the sexual life of a woman who was used and used these rappers, sports stars, and actors to get to where she is. She goes into major detail about sex with these men and names them ALL! It is obvious that she knew what she was doing and that she had nothing but her future in mind when she slept with these men. I dont encourage it or agree with what she did but her story is one crazy and amazing one to read about. I know she will have a follow up book to this one and I cant wait for her next book.

I had heard sooooo much about this book and decided to go ahead and read it myself. Very interesting confessions she makes about the men she was involved with in the Hip Hop industry, that we all know. It is amazing to see what she has been through in her life and how she has overcome it. Overall very capturing read. I really enjoyed it. You will not be bored!

Confessions of a Video VixenNormally, I read alot of motivatonal/self help books.I bought this book because I was curious and questioned why it caused so much controversy. Also, I wanted to read something w/ no literary value... for entertainment. Well, I accomplished 1/2 of my goal. This book has no literary value, and I have no idea why it made the NY Best Seller's list. This book was boring and I question the author's integrity and overall truth of incidents she speaks of. Some could say it's all in one's perception, but this female is truly dillusional and overall a sad individual. And the things she speaks of are not that "juicy" to even be controversal. The author rambles and the often the chronological order/sequence of events just seemed too detailed, that even a person w/ a photographic memory would question it's authenticity.
This book was a disappointment and I'm glad I bought it on Ebay at a fraction of the listed price. I will never buy another book by this author, nor read one even if I get it for free.

When you read this book you learn who she is not just the girl known to the world as "Superhead" you get to see where she came from and how she got the mentality that she did. This book will take you on emotional high and lows right with her, It's not just about celebrity life it's about a young woman finding herself coming from a bad childhood and wanting more and the best even though she made bad choices.

I purchased this book on ebay because I was anxious to read it. I went to purchase it from Barnes and Noble but they were sold out. Not to mention it was selling for mored than $20. Buy getting it on ebay it saved me nearly half of that. To be a used book it wss in excellent condition.
