The Con (PlayStation Portable, 2005)

the con is a fighting game with a twist. you get to bet on your fights. you can either bet on yourself to win or lose. what i liked about the game was the fact that your character was totally customizable. you can buy new hair styles, clothes, tattoos, shoes, etc. the gameplay was pretty fluid and enjoyable. what i didnt like was that the game was so short.

The aspect of betting on a 3 person fight team, that you choose and customize, was a good theme to peak my interest in this game. The story mode holds your interest while you fight with other 3 team fighters, for money and respect in the "hood". You may win the fight and win the bet, but if a member of your team is injured, you sometimes have to pay the hospital, more than your winnings, to keep all your fighters in top condition. If the crowd loses interest in the fight, you can lose the bet, and lose respect that you have earned, even though your team actually won the round. It has a variety of fighting styles to use or that will be used against your team. Some fighters have brute strength, while others are quick and agile, with some very cool moves, you get better moves, and pick up extra characters as you progress in the game. It also has a quick fight mode, I used quick fight mode to learn the moves of various fighters before I picked my 3 person fight team, and started the story mode. It has a cool slow motion re-play of the K.O. You can fight wirelessly with your friends, and win items from them. This game ROCKS! BET..you might like it...or maybe this is just "THE CON"

The Con is an awesome game. The whole time you fight you can either bet on yourself or throw a fight and lose on purpose to gain respect and better your team. You have to fight with a 3 person team against another 3 person team. Its the first to win 2 of 3 fights who wins unless your fighting the boss. When you fight the boss you have to beat all 3 team members with your three. If you only use 1 person to beat them all your awesome. Its an awesome game with a sort of street fighter aspect.

The game is really good. Maybe it could have a lil more better graphics, but its decent. I think the con is another psp game that was overlooked like dead head fred, shouts out to Vicious Cycle

Is the best game i had ever play. A lot of fun, Action, is a sport game about fighting: kick boxing, wrestriling, boxing, etc. Play in arcade mode, story mode, etc.

I marked the game as average being though fun first time around it gets very repeditive. Would not put this on my top 25 games to play, but great to kill time with on a long car ride.

I bought the con game 2 weeks ago very nice game my kid love it brand new condition my kid played all day with it and i recomend this game to teen kids

I just got a PSP for the holidays, and wanted to buy a variety of games, i.e. sports, role play, fighting, etc. I came across The Con, which was billed as a fighting game along the lines of the movie Fight Club. The twist is in the Story Mode, you build a team of three fighters, work your way up the ranks fighting other teams, and gaining money and respect along the way. Prior to each fight, you can bet on either fighter based on the odds. The Con is if your opponent has higher odds, then you can bet against yourself and throw the fight. The catch is that you have to make it look like you tried to fight, or the crowd will turn on you and you lose the money you bet. Overall, I enjoyed playing this game. You can use and fight against 5 different styles of fighting and use a variety of different characters. With each character, you can customize their look right down to facial hair, earrings and tattoos. I would recommend this game to any fighting enthusiast.

This game is a blast to play... for a short while. It incorporates a decent story line with some great button-mashing action. The ability to "play the crowd" for a better profit makes this fighting game unique.

However, be prepared for getting plenty of beatdowns as you get higher on the ranking ladder - the crowd starts to think you are throwing every fight, when in reality you are just trying to keep your guy from getting his butt kicked. This results in "wins" that the crowd thinks was a con - so you lose your bet and end up in the hospital. This got old very quickly, and I started looking for something else to play.

If you are a button-mashing dynamo, this game is for you - perhaps you will have much better results than I did.

Revision:
I had to go back and try it again. Since then I've played through the game five or six times, trying each different fighting style and enjoying every moment of it. The first time through is definitely the hardest, but you will find that all the special items that you unlock along the way will be available for new characters just starting out. Although this takes away a good bit of the challenge, it makes for some great butt-kicking action. Anyone who enjoys fighting games should add this one to their collection.

Great game, let's you bet on the fights. And it allows you to throw a fight for a bigger pay off. I bought this game because I like def jam and you can create your own fight team.

This also was a game bought for my son. It is targeted more towards the older crowd since it has alot of violence. The graphics are terrific. Not for the young but is a excellent game. Alot of thug action

Because my son likes fighting games he could do on this PSP, dislked that the limited fighting moves.
