This 1979 book is now computer history. Computer fraud and countermeasures have been around for a while and I'm always amazed by the number of user who aren't up on the info. A "by-the-way" to mention is that once you cross the internet international boundries, all bets made in this book is off - the rules and penalities (prison sentences - yes, Prison!) can only get more harsh. One of the key lessons to be learned is that if you want to conduct computer fraud, you'd better be 10-thousand times better than your opponent to win because many users are employing countermeasures. Unfortunately, most computer operators have a fairly simplistic idea of how the systems operate (you almost never hear of a hardware person going this route, it's almost always the software type with compartmentalized knowledge). Think about it...you often hear of fraudsters, hackers, spammers, terrorists, etc. being caught by law enforcement - don't you think a digitalize data trail is left??? Of course it is and it's available for specialists to trace the problem back to the originator - even if they're trying to disguise themselves. Many of the subjects mentioned in this book can be applied to other areas. There's a real lesson here. Strongly recommended.
