The Doors issued just six studio albums.

Included in this box set, are the six studio albums released by the band;
*- The Doors (1967), Strange Days (1967), Waiting for the Sun (1968), The Soft Parade (1969), Morrison Hotel (1970), and L.A. Woman (1971), and a seventh disc of demos, b-sides, previously unreleased songs, and live tracks all are also in the 1997 Doors Box Set. Each disc's cardboard sleeve replicas the original record covers. Missing are the two albums made by the remaining members, after morrison's death. - Other Voices (1971) and Full Circle (1972), and American Prayer (1978), Jim's spoken word poetry with music added by the doors.

All of the studio albums are here, along with a 7th CD of rare live tracks. Ahead of their time, The Doors used lyrics, chords, rhythms, riffs, & melodies in ways no one else had, or has since.

Unlike some other albums that have been remastered, the sound here is spectacular. The original Doors vinyl LP's were known for their incredible stereo sound - I own all of them, and I remember the first time I played their first record as a kid - I couldn't believe the sound that was coming out of my speakers - better than any other album that I owned at the time. The producers really had it together, & thankfully that full crystal clear sound has been reproduced with these CD's - that's one of the main reasons I'm giving this a 5 rating.

I was fortunate to have seen several Doors concerts, including a show that one of the live tracks here was taken from, so the live CD is especially nostalgic for me. With the release of these live rarities, those who weren't there can now share in the magic of those unforgettable performances!

The 1999 "Cube Box" release of this set is the nicest, in my opinion - the box is cool looking. The replica album sleeves are a super nice touch, & the 60 page booklet has some great photos - many that I had never seen before.

Buy this collection, and lock yourself in your stereo room with it for several days. (You may emerge with an overpowering desire to run out and purchase huge quantities of candles and incense!!)

Ever since Apocalypse Now, I've wanted to hear more from The Doors. "The End" was a haunting song that has stuck with me for almost 30 years from when I first heard it at the beginning of this film. The Complete Studio Recordings are very well done and they come in a box that keeps them together. I love their music and I am not really a rock fan. It's their sound that captivates me. There are few others that compare. The "Eagles" are a good example. It is too bad that Jim Morrison died so young. I wonder what more he could have accomplished with his music.
