The key to this book is that you don't need all day in the kitchen no big assembly line set up and the portions are kept low. This is the second edition, revised and expanded with more recipes. There is a new chapter on freezer jams and microwave recipes.

This book just brought my preserving up to the new century ! It is an excellent book with some of the old familiars plus so many new recipes and suggestions. I'm looking forward to using it all year around.

I love to cook and make food from scratch. The book is very informative and has a wide range of recipes. It is perfect for making gifts and preparing for my family. I would be very interested in finding such a book on canning and freezing vegtables.

I bought this book because I have just gotten into canning again. I do not want to make jars and jars of the same jellies and jams. This is a great book because of the smaller quantities it makes. The recipes are interesting and easy to do. Lots of helpful tips also. A great book if you only want one canning book.

The recipes were for small batches of fruits and vegetables. I didn't grow a garden this year so I would pick up a bushel of tomatoes, etc to can on the weekend. You can make 3 diffent recipes with 1 bushel. I live alone and don't need a lot so this was perfect. I have LOTS of fresh produce in tasty recipes. And I feel great that I could do all this in a fraction of the time it used to take.

This is a comprehensive, easy to follow guide to preserving, pickling and freezing for the home gardener, or anyone who wants to put up their own preserves. The recipes are creative, many are beautifully illustrated, and there's a useful section of recipes utilizing the items in the book. It includes quick and easy methods like microwaving. When we needed a recipe for watermelon pickles, we found an excellent one in this book. It's a great addition to the pantry.
