The Complete Book of Silk Painting by Diane Tuckman, Jan Janas (1992, Hardcover)

This book is an excellent handbook to the unique art of painting on silk. Currently out of print, it must be purchased on a site like ebay. I felt lucky to find it. In easy to understand and follow language, this book demonstrates each step of the silk painting process - from creating a work space, to materials and supplies, to techniques, to a gallery of art by silk painting pros. Each page, and step, is wonderfully illustrated with clear, and beautiful, color photographs.
I had recently completed a two day workshop given by one of the authors, Diane Tuckman, and all of her instructions and techniques were reiterated in this volume. It has become an invaluable resource for me. Even if you have never tried silk painting, this book's instructions can easily be followed. Yet even someone with experience will find information of value. Even someone who doesn't know if they will ever try this art/craft, but just likes beautiful art, will enjoy this book for its awesome color artwork.
