The Complete Book of Making Miniatures by Thelma R. Newman (1975, Hardcover)

This is a terrific book, I highly recommend it to the miniatures "craftsperson". It covers a little bit of everything and gives you the basic techniques to "start out" doing something with a medium even if you never tried using that material before. It predates "sculpey" but it has a number of suggestions on mediums you can use that do not even have to be baked! It also sort of "trains" you on "how to be on the lookout" for "findings". It even suggests which is the best type of glue to use for which projects! And even if you don't try to "learn" all the little "trades" it will give you "details to look for and ask about" when you are purchasing something made by an artisan!
