The Complete Book of Knitting by Barbara Abbey (1971, Book, Illustrated)

Great book for showing different stitches, but not for getting the creative juices flowing. Black and white illustrations that get the job done with no flare or pizazz. If you are looking for a reference book, you probably couldn't do much better. But it isn't the thing to tempt a potential knitter. (But once they are hooked, this is a great book!) Has the feel of something my grandmother would have had, not a contemporary glossy showpiece. All in all, a nice book for a more serious knitter, not so much for someone following the knitting fad.
