If you know nothing about breeding dogs, or (in our case) are involved in rescue and have to deal with a dog who's about to have puppies, this is a great buy. However, if you know much about breeding and whelping, it's just basic knowledge - basically things you could learn if you put a few hours into online searching.

Complete Book of Dog Breeding by Dan RiceThis is one of the most complete, easiest to read, books about dogs. Along with breeding info, there is also a lot of general canine care as well as very detailed info about canine behavior before, during and after the pups are born. One section of the book details emergency actions if there is a breech or the pups sack breaks too soon. This info saved the life of one of our Poodle pups. I followed the example and breathed life back into one of our pups. This is a MUST HAVE for dog owners, as well as dog breeders.
