I borrowed this book from a friend who said it was a good diet that promotes a vegetarian diet and lifestyle. I need more healthy foods in my diet. The book is written in some very blunt language which the authors describe as "tough-love." This does not appeal to everyone.
This diet is mostly fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and organic snacks. It blares a warning to us about the health dangers of eating some of the foods we are now filling our bodies with....you know, fast foods, fatty snacks...things we all love. The authors are very anti-food chemical and want you to eat only organic. I agree organic is probably a whole lot healthier for you, but a lot more expensive. This diet may not be convenient for some people to follow depending on where you live, and whether or not you are willing to spend a bit more money on organic foods. They tell you that if you do not buy and eat organic foods now than you will pay for it later with treating possible diseases or health problems. As with everything in life, just do the best you can. The authors admit that they don't eat perfectly vegan all the time.....so is there a Burger King nearby? There is advice in the book on promoting your own self esteem, health, and happiness. I think it all boils down to what you personally want for your body and your life. I am not vegetarian but have decreased red meats to once a month. Sometimes a veggie meal suits me just fine. You have to do what makes you happy......not what someone else is telling you will make you happy.
