Necessity for all ORCA lovers!

This book is/was geared for kids as it bears a Canadian Book Choice Award for Children. In my personal opinion it is a wealth of knowlege for any adult as well! Let me tell you it's facinating! My daughter found this little 63 page book at the local library and fell in love with it. The concept is a diary of a whale watcher. Alexandra Morton has spring, summer, fall, & winter entries. She tells you wonderful facts both in words and pictures. My daughter has learned to identify captive whales by using the information held in the pages of Ms. Mortons 'journal' entries. She astounded the orca trainers not at one Seaworld but 2 different locations with what she learned from this author! An outstanding asset to identifying orcas is a chart in the beginning of the book. It outlinings both resident orcas & transient orcas by showing the reader the special identifying marks of each whale's dorsal fin. As well as the family geneology charts of these orcas. It's a great read for an adult as well as any kid facinated with orcas.
