Album Notes The sophomore release by Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. builds on the bright, melodic indie rock offered up on his solo debut, YOURS TO KEEP. Naturally, the sound of the Strokes lurks in these tunes, and fans of Hammond Jr.'s main band will recognize the thrumming rhythm guitars, garage-styled distortion, and hooky melodies that won't let go. The vibe on COMO TE LLAMA is lighter than the Stokes however; the double-strummed guitars and scale-climbing melody of "G Up" and the dreamy rock and bounce of "GFC" are cases in point. With dashes of Guided by Voices, and infectious melodies lifted straight out of the 1960s British Invasion, Hammond Jr. creates a disc tailor-made for cruising around on a summer's day.

4.5 stars out of 5 -- There's an unmitigated excellence to Hammond Jr.'s songwriting permeating every pore on the gently lulling 'Lisa' and the intoxicating lilt to the chorus on 'GFC.' Alternative Press
