Combat! - The Complete Series (DVD, 2005, 40-Disc Set)

Well, you asked for it. I innocently hit buy-it-now on this item and when I got down to the shipping, I was shocked to see a bill for EIGHTY SIX DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS for a boxed set of DVDs that ships out at twelve dollars and LESS. Mind you this is a boxed set, no extra handling involved. The seller's "policy" on shipping is 4.50 for the first disk and TWO DOLLARS for each additional disk. The set has 40 DVDs in it. What's wrong with this picture? I believe in honesty in advertising, not a teaser price then shipping that makes the item WAY past retail. This item normally retails for $168 to about $180 or a little more. This seller teased at $133 with the hidden shipping at $86.50 for a total of $219.50. Now the good part, eBay sent me several threatening pre-canned emails telling me how they were going to do this and that to me and I asked for help and filed a complaint and was flat IGNORED. eBay supports the shyster in this case and does not assist the consumer. Shame on the seller for obvious deceptive advertising and also on eBay for the support of such low tactics with no recourse. I will gladly take a deadbeat ding rather than get RIPPED OFF. What would YOU do? The item is Combat! The Complete Series (2005,DVD). Do a search and you may still find what I did.
In summary, we all know eBay is an excellent market research tool, but it is still the wild West in that there can be a feeding frenzy as in any auction and most often an item is bid up in the last remaining seconds and when that emotional spurt is added to an often time ridiculous shipping then the buyer gets HAMMERED. This sale was not a bidding auction but buy-it-now, however we all should remain vigilant for the hidden rip-off and ask the seller in advance if they will consent to actual shipping costs. Has worked for me in many cases but I made the wrong presumption when I clicked. Another learning curve and I didn't get RIPPED OFF. Caveat emptor and take care, all who read this. Bleubyu2
