| Movie Description The critically acclaimed miniseries continues with this second chapter in the Lonesome Dove saga. A prequel to the Pulitzer Prize-winning Larry McMurtry novel, LONESOME DOVE, the six-episode series COMANCHE MOON explores the lives and struggles of several Texas men and women in the old west. Steve Zahn stars as Texas ranger Augustus "Gus" McCrae opposite Karl Urban (THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING) as ranger Woodrow F. Call. Rounding out the cast and the drama are Val Kilmer as Yankee Captain Inish Scull, Rachel Griffiths (BROTHERS AND SISTERS) as Scull's unfaithful wife, Linda Cardellini (ER) as Gus's significant other, and Elizabeth Banks (THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN) as a young prostitute who has a baby by Call. The rangers team up with a collection of interesting characters in order to fight off the Comanche. Their mission revolves around tracking down three outlaws: a Comanche war chief, a Comanche thief, and a Mexican bandit.

Report this review Comanche MoonReview created: 07/06/08(updated 07/24/08) by: I really enjoyed the entire Lonesome Dove series, this 'prequel' gives us a look at the characters at a younger age, it fills in alot of history of each individual, we get to meet Blue Duck, find out why he is so angry, and My personal favorite, Buffalo Hump...Played by Native Actor, Wes Studi, who in Streets of Laredo played Famous Shoes. The cast was excellent, and alot of attention was paid to Comanche life, their history and their old ways...For the first time ever in a film, real eagle feathers were used, with permission from the Comanche people. While in all movies, history is dramatized for creative effect, this I believe comes close to what they endured...again, as far as movies in the genre, I give it an A+++ Review ID: 10000000007840051 Was this review helpful?
