What a great movie and Val Kilmer is just HOT. Great western drama that is almost five hours long! You will definitely get your money's worth on this continuing saga of Lonesome Dove.

THE MOVIE WAS GOOD ALTHOUGH FELT LIKE IT LEFT ME HANGING. I WAS NOT READY FOR IT TO END. I WAS IMPRESSED ON HOW MUCH THE ACTORS REPRESENTED THE CHARACTERS BEING THEY WERE ALL DIFFERENT. Excellent story! I do not rate the movies for the Direction, production, acting, set design, nor believability; I rate movies on the overall enjoyability. This movie was very enjoyable and a wonderful choice for families to share some time together and talk about real history of America.

Prequal to Lonesome Dove, explains history well. Val Kilmer's role is small (he's not the main character), they used two actors that look like a younger Call and Gus from Lonesome Dove. Excellent job.

Like stepping back in time... great to see how things were and compare to what it is now.. some things never change.

great movie. this is one that my husband has been looking for. glad to find it. he loves old western movies. i am glad i was able to find it for him. looking forward to finding many more on ebay.

I loved this movie! It was great! It was a perfect beginning to Lonesome Dove. I decided to buy this movie because Lonesome Dove is one of my favorites, and I wanted to see the portrayal of how it all began. Would recommend to anyone!

I still haven't gotten the movie, and i haven't been notified that it has been shipped to me yet, even thought it has been more than a week!

This is in dispute. The money was taken from my paypal but the seller could not deliver because of problems w/ her bank and paypal. I have asked that the payment be returned to my paypal, but has not been. I still want to purchase this book to complete this saga. This was not a dvd that I ordered.

Some prequels are only made to "cash in" on the success of what has already happened, but Comanche Moon explains the various relationships the main participants (Woodrow & Gus,Blue Duck etc) and how the ex Rangers become involved in the cattle business and the beginnings of the township of Lonesome Dove.
As the story unfolds and we learn more about the early days it makes the following two episodes even more enjoyable.

I really enjoyed the entire Lonesome Dove series, this 'prequel' gives us a look at the characters at a younger age, it fills in alot of history of each individual, we get to meet Blue Duck, find out why he is so angry, and My personal favorite, Buffalo Hump...Played by Native Actor, Wes Studi, who in Streets of Laredo played Famous Shoes. The cast was excellent, and alot of attention was paid to Comanche life, their history and their old ways...For the first time ever in a film, real eagle feathers were used, with permission from the Comanche people.

While in all movies, history is dramatized for creative effect, this I believe comes close to what they endured...again, as far as movies in the genre, I give it an A+++

Being fans of Lonesome Dove, we can never get enough of Gus and Woodrow. It's interesting to see other actors take on the characters developed by Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones in the original movie. Comanche Moon clarifies some of the missing elements of the other parts of the series. This is a "must see" for those who have seen the others. It's a "must have" for those who own the others.

Not quite as gristly as the novel, but faithful to the story, and very effective for a 3 part TV movie. This DVD is dark and epic. Val Kelmer continues to amaze me. This story will haunt you. A++!

This was a great movie and filled in many gaps of the Lonesome Dove series. I thought all the actors were great, especially Steve Zahn. He was superb as Gus and Karl Urban was very good as Call. "Comanche Moon" will be watched over and over around here.

Wonderful movie, Larry McMurtry's books make great movies and I now have them all. This movie just came out on TV in the last year and I was surprised to be able to purchase it so cheap.

My husband and I rented this movie because we really enjoyed the Lonesome Dove movie.And after watching it we immediately wanted to own it.This movie was wonderful and fascinating.It was just as good as Lonesome Dove.Which you rarely see these days.This is a prequel and the actors did a great job playing younger versions of the main characters in Lonesome Dove.We really enjoyed this movie.If you like westerns and loved Lonesome Dove you will really love this movie too.
