Columbo - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2004)

This is a 5 CD set, in a nice fold out binder and cover. If you loved watching Columbo on TV you will love this set. I have since purchased season 2 and 3 also. The packaging quality goes down with each season, but overall it is still nice.

I am a huge Columbo fan. I decided to convert from VHS tapes to DVDs. I purchased a product that was new. It came factory sealed. The DVDS are excellent. The picture quality, which I was worried about, is very clear. I was so impressed, I purchased the second season as well. I look forward to completing my collection.

I really liked the quality on the movie even though was used,not too happy with the shipping. I think I had to wait many days but, it was worth it, I will bid again and also excellent price. I did rally saved money.

The first season contains some of my favorite epsisodes of Columbo. Fans will love it and it's a great start for nonfans as well. I like that the two pilots are included since I rarely see them on TV.

I liked the DVD itself and the speed of shipping. However, the shipping charge was quite excessive. I could have bought the same DVD at Best Buy for less than it cost me online!

During August 2003, my wife and I brought home twin girls (age 10) and their brother (12). We have discovered since then that these children are strongly attracted to "Old Time Radio" shows and thought they might enjoy the older family friendly TV shows of the past. The children like Columbo (but not as well as Monk!). My wife and I believe we are enjoying this series more than we did when the series first aired. Highly recommened.

I loved the presentation when I received the merchandise it was in the excellent condition the seller was the best.

It was exactly like the seller it would be. The discs looked like new and the case did to. I bought this item because its one of my favorite old tv shows.

Thought it was an amusing and entertaining series when it was first on TV throughout the 70s/80s. Clever writing and the villian always knew that he (Columbo) knew that he (the villian)knew that he knew, if you can follow that logic. That was the basic premise. Columbo always seemed too dim witted (at first)to solve these crimes and the perpertrator always felt like he was one step ahead of Columbo. That was key in Columbo's strategy in getting his man (or woman).

I did not dislike anything about this series, although, when it was resurrected with new episodes in the late 90's, I still preferred the originals. Now this is going to seem like a negative review here, but it is not. I suffer from insomnia and because I have seen so many of these episodes, I feel they relax me and I can doze off to much needed sleep. Of course, this is after I received this boxed set and had not seen the episodes for many years. So after watching them over and over again for the first month....I now just drift off. This is a positive for me, and I am guessing that anyone ordering these will just view them from time to time and not fall asleep. Trust me they are extremely entertaining, so if you were a Columbo fan back then, you will love these DVD's.

Just for an FYI, before finding these I just watched old taped movies over and over again awaiting for the sandman. Another thing responsible for the success of this series were the guest stars in all the episodes. It was quite a feather in one's cap to be cast in these mysteries. Gene Barry, Janet Leigh, Robert Conrad, David Cassidy, Louis Jourdan, Robert Culp, William Windom, Johnny Cash, Anne Baxter, Eddie Albert, Suzanne Pleshette, Ray Milland, Leslie Nielsen, Roddy McDowall and Lee Grant are just a sampling of the who's who, of Hollywood greats (back then) who would guest star in each episode. My apologies because I know there were countless others who entertained us in these series, and I will probably remember them after this review is completed. In closing if you are a mystery fan, with a sense of humor, you will definately appreciate these DVD's. No it is not a heavy duty who-done-it drama, but more of a light, dry and amusing form of mystery entertainment. Happy watching!

I think I have seen every single episode of Columbo in my lifetime!! I love Columbo and when I told my oldest daughter that I nicknamed someone I know Columbo she said, "Who's Columbo?" My goodness!!! I couldn't believe my ears! Even when I explained him to her she still didn't know!! SO!! I HAD to buy these to let her see for herself!! She has now seen all of the DVD's in this set & loves them!! and is ready for more... These are awesome!!! Thank you!

We are big fans of Columbo. So we decided to get the complete series starting with the first season. Will be getting others at a later date.

My husband is addicted to the old Columbo series. He's hard to buy gifts for, so when he mentioned he'd love the first season boxed set, I thought I had the perfect gift. Then I was worried it would be hard to find, but there it was, new, on e-bay and he loved it! Perfect gift!

I like columbo always did. They never have him on tv much and I felt like a good item to purchase. I gave it as a gift for Christmas to my Mom, she loves him so it was a good item that we both enjoy! Bye!
