Why I bought this book...

I had first heard mention of the book in a current issue of a Better Homes and Gardens Quilting Magazine. I had recently seen a demo, at my local quilt shop, on painting with thread. That is layering color to depict a thing or design on a quilt. I thought that this book was the same medium. It turned out it wasn't. What Ann Fahl is doing is coloring cut pieces of fabric with coordinating threads. I was lucky enough to see two of her original quilts at a quilt show in Bloomingdale Illinois last month. Beautiful intricate designs. Her method helps us to discover how to embellish a piece as well as quilt it for use. She doesn't layer on the thread like what I thought based on the title.
