Colored Pencils by Morrell Wise

This is a Walter Foster book. It's not long, but it's very clear in what it explains. Morrell Wise is an excellent colored pencil artist who's good at breaking down the basics of using the medium, and if you're a beginner this may be just the book for you. If not, there are still some projects and images in here that may be inspiring, like the red grapes Mr. Wise drew for the cover on one version (the other cover version shows a landscape).
Morrell Wise is a colored pencil realist who's done amazing landscapes, and one of the best points in this book is that one of his lake, trees and mountains landscapes is included with some of the steps on the way to completion. I bought it partly because Morrell Wise was the first colored pencil realist artist I'd ever seen. He did the cover image for a little booklet by Prismacolor that I got with my first 72 color full range set in 1972, and I had always wanted to know how he did that landscape.
Patience, and time. That's how he did it. You can too, with this book, even if you're new to the medium. It may be better for a beginner because of its length and that you're not trying to take in everything at once. Or anyone who particularly likes Walter Foster books, as their familiar format is really great for some people. This is one of the good ones.
