Collecting Handkerchiefs by Christopher Csajko, Roseanna Mihalick (2000, Paperback)

I purchased this book a few years ago on Ebay directly from the author Roseanna Mihalick.(so I have a signed copy) The book is choc full of great photographs by Christopher Csajko. There are over 300 color photographs covering the following styles. Whites & Weddings, Calendars, Holidays, Across Country, Around the World, Designers, Red White & Blue, Florals, Ruffles & Rounds, Sports & Animals. In the designer section you will find examples of work by Pat Prichard, Tammis Keefe, Jeanne Miller, Brigitta Ajnefors, Frederique& Monique. Mihalick has quite an amazing collection of "places" hankies, devoting two chapters to those. I have a special interest in Holiday handkerchiefs & would have liked to have seen a few more of those. She says that Christmas & Valentine hankies seem to be the most readily available holiday hankies. She has no examples of a Halloween hankie or Easter hankies. Although Easter hankies are less common than Valentines & Christmas, there are some usually available on Ebay. I think Halloween hankies are rare. Mihalick deos have a beautiful example of a fall hankie complete with scarecrow. Each photo has a brief description & an estimated value. Personally I think the values are more than you will find the hankies selling for on Ebay for the most part, but it does give you some idea of the values. There is no section on children's handkerchiefs, which is a bit disappointing. There is another book that deal specifically with those & I will be writing a review on that soon. I would also have liked to have seen a chapter on monogrammed hankies. The author did tell me she was going to cover those in a second book, which I have not seen published yet. Overall i think you will find the book interesting & informative. You can spend hours just looking at the pictures if you have a love for vintage handkerchiefs. Book is paperback with 144 pages.
