Collateral (DVD, 2004)

Tom Cruise is excellent in his role as the dapper hit-man; and Jamie Foxx does a fine job in his role as well. I kept waiting for the climax but it never really seemed to happen. I found the ending very predictable and I was a little disappointed. It seemed like the director and writer realized that the movie had gone on for about 2 hrs. and decided to end it as quickly as possible. All in all not a bad film.

Ever since Tom Cruise went wacko - and in my mind that was way before the Katie Holmes thing... - he has irritated me. I guess its because he loves himself so much and is so over the top (ie the white doves in Mission Impossible II). That said, he is quite good in Collateral - and Jamie Foxx is stellar as well. Cruise plays an absurdly crazy and dark character who hold Jamie Foxx - a kind and hard-working cabbie - hostage as his accomplice taxi driver. The movie is a thriller and moves along quite well - at a rapid, sharp pace. The writing is solid. The visuals are excellent and I guarantee you won't get board. Enjoy.

I really wasn't into seeing this movie and I started it late at night thinking I wasn't going to finish it but man, it sucks you in and you can't pull your eyes away. Starring Jamie Foxx as a cab driver who you automatically like. He is just your every day guy trying to make a living. He picks up a girl, drives her to her location and you can tell they are hitting it off, she even gives him her phone number. Then after she leaves the cab Tom Cruises character gets in and right away you can tell he is shady. Turning out that he is going around killing people and Jamie Foxx character has no choice but to drive him around. Things go from bad to worse when the cops think the cab driver is the killer and then the cab driver finds out who the last person on the list is. The story line and action scenes will keep you watching and not being able to pull away until the credits come up. A+++

From start to finish this is the wildest ride you could ever buy. Foxx's Academy Award nomination was definitely justified and his performance in this role propelled him to his amazing (and Academy Award winning) performance in Ray. Not only do you relate yourself to this character you feel for him and his position.

Tom Cruise as an assassin is from the outside a little far fetched, but seeing him as this calm, cool and calculated hired gun makes you believe. Tom has harnessed and focused all of the craziness let loose on Oprah's couch and the Today show and uses that to showcase the controlled madness necessary to be a hitman. His enrollment in scientology pays off with his need to control himself throughout this non-stop action movie.

Don't worry you won't be disappointed with the end either. From start to finish you will enjoy this movie greatly. Not one to rent, this one is for your permanent collection.

Tom Cruise gives an excellent performance in this movie. His "matter of fact" character with minor variations provides for a unique criminal subject to study during the movie. However, Jamie Foxx's performance in my estimation overshadows the ever popular Cruise. Foxx plays a very convincing cab driver pulled into the fray of Cruise's business with Foxx and his life along for the rides as consequential "collateral damage" so to speak of Cruise's mission. Cruise plays the role he was intended to play and does a magnificent job in doing so yet it's Jaime Foxx that makes this movie. This movie is excellent and I give it a 5 out of 5 stars. Go along for the ride as Max goes from a meager cab driver with dreams of a limo company to the guy who ultimately saves the day because he's seen too much and just can't let the scene play out without doing something, anything... Does he save the day? Is the cost worth it? Watch the movie...it IS worth it!

Tom Cruise is at the top of his game and plays a character new to his fans: "The Bad Guy". He plays a hitman named Vincent who is vicious at work but remains calm when not. The ability of Cruise to play the ruthless killer is incredible. Considering this is one, if not the first, bad guys we see him play. He is incredible.

But the true star is Jamie Foxx who brings one of the best performances of his career. Foxx plays the perfect cabbie who is thrust into a situation that he cannot control. As a result he must deal with the fact that he eventually comes close to the Vincent character.

The show has some twists in it. It is a great movie! My only complaint is that the movie ends quickly. I was expecting more. :(

Tom Cruise is a fine actor. He has been type cast but periodically surprises. This is one of those times. He is very dark in this film (I won't give away the plot). Jamie Foxx is terrific....definitely an unexpectedly excellent actor. I normally do not watch films of this type except with Tom Cruise...and I'm not his biggest fan. He is just so believable. Highly recommended. Don't forget to look for Javier Bardem.........

This movie is a good twist on the regular Tom Cruise movies. Finally, we get to see him as "The Bad Guy." Jamie Foxx and him put on a good, well thought out plan. Follow the story, and everything will all work out in the end.

this person sold me a misrepresented item and when i contacted him he was very sarcastic about it, sort of if i did not like it there was not a thing i could do about it, i have made so many purcheses trhough athis venew, first time i come a cross with seller like this with such a poor ethic and respect for us the clients.......

I bought the DVD because I enjoy Jamie Foxx's acting so much. He plays a cab driver who picks up and becomes a hostage of a professional hit man for an evening. A dark and chilling story. If you like suspense and cop movies, you'd probably enjoy it.

Jamie Foxx was a regular taxi driver. Unfortunately for this taxi driver, one of his customers was a killer (Tom Cruise). The killer forced the driver to become an accomplice to his various crimes. Jamie Foxx gave an amazing performance. I was surprised to see how well Tom Cruise played his role. The movie was great. Must see!

Tom C. Plays hard core hit man and does it very well, For me it was one of his better movies.

Great Film starring Tom Cruise as a Hit-Man-For-Hire bad boy and Jammie Fox as the unlucky taxi driver who is sucked in to his devish scheme. Film was better than most films I have seen criuse play in, and Jammie Fox does an outstanding job as well in the far-from-being-a-comedy role. Give this one 4 stars for great acting and plot with lots of suspense 4 stars ****

I bought it becasue I saw the movie on Hbo and I liked it. No Video store had it so I came to e-bay to buy it and im very happy with the movie

I loved this movie because it highlights the effects of intimidation, manipulation and control. You get the feeling you are in the car and working through the scenario with Jamie Fox. "What would I do in a situation like that?" I asked myself.By the end of the show you are thinking, "I am not going to let this guy take me out, I am going to fight to the bitter end!!" The movie itself was well made, the actors excellent and over all a great action thriller.

One of the best movies I have ever seen. If you are looking for a good action movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat this is the movie for you. The actions and intensity keeps your eyes fixed directly on the screen. One of the best movies to see if you love the intence graphic action movies.

this movie is aweseme due to jamie fox and a great driector- tom was just there for the dressing and its one personally I am tried of...but it was good for the financial backing. But now jamie has proved himself- twice in one year (ray)!!
