Four strangers charter Jack Bonner’s boat and hire him to take them diving off the coast of Florida. They retrieve what they say are giant sea pods out of the ocean. But Jack soon discovers that his mysterious employers are really aliens, beings of light energy encased in flesh-like skins. They have come from an Alien planet to rescue several of their people left behind when the city of Atlantis sank. These aliens have rented a house and use the bathhouse pool there to store the cocoons. When several people in the twilight of their years from the neighboring retirement homes sneak in to use the pool, they suddenly find themselves in the fountain of youth a side effect of the cocoons being in there.
This is a very heart felt movie that will be sure to touch the hearts of young & old.

What makes the movie one of the better ones is the experienced cast which included Don Ameche, Brimley, Cronyn, Jessica Tandy, Maureen Stapleton, Gwen Verdon, and Jack Gilford!
Of course with Ron Howard directing, this movie had a good start.
The story line is a little strange, what with senior citizens being offered a fountain of youth from aliens... but it is all in fun!
Recommended family viewing, which for a sci-fi flick is hard to find sometimes!

I like this movie because it is not like every other movie that comes out and is about aliens trying to destroy the earth or take over the planet. It is a great story. watch it and see for yourself.

Wilford Brimley is a god and Don Ameche is his prince son, this motion picture is a true work of art of which we are so unworthy, 3000 years from now when they study our culture i hope against hope that a copy of this gracious documentary is available, for if not all will be lost............VIVA LA BRIMLEY!!!!!!!

) This film is great for anyone who likes movies. It's a great way to spend time with your family for a night in or for the sci-fi fan who loves a good story without a ton of action all the time.
The first time I saw this film was on video and i've been hooked on it since. Ron Howard's follow-up to "Splash" has a great cast and a thought-provoking story. He's one of the great storytellers of our time and he pulls this one off with great success.
A must-see and must-own film for anyone who loves good stories and good acting.

This is one of the most inspiring, magical movies I have seen. It explores how we respond when faced with the unknown... aliens to be specific. But these aliens are not threatening... quite the opposite... they are us. This is a beautiful movie that is certainly worth a look!!
