Coby CV-890 Professional Wireless Headphones

For what I paid on impulse for these from a local retailer, I was not expecting an audiophile's dream. I just wanted something to watch TV and use my laptop without disturbing my wife. The moment I turned on the transmitter (which is 2.4ghz like 802.11b&g and most cordless phones), it killed ANY Wi-Fi signal TOTALLY and IMMEDIATELY even though I had a 98% signal strength on my 802.11g connection.

Besides that, it has an annoying hiss that is almost impossible to get rid of on any channel.

Finally, mine has an annoying "right-click", "left-click" repeating sound on all channels. It may be interference from something else like a wireless phone.

Add to all this the cheap construction and this product is a loser.

I will return it and spend more money on something without all these problems, and would suggest others do the same.

It works, although 'pairing' is not straight-forward...
The sound quality is OK, but not for serious music listening.
The automatic gain control (AGC) lets noice come up when sound level drops.

Headset comes with 3 replaceable AAA NiMH batteries, charged on the base.
Headset and base both have on-off switches.
The base must be plugged-in to transmit(9VDC or included 120VAC 'wall wart').

I got this used for concept evaluation, and it was just what I needed.
I think it will be great for private listening to TV sound (voice).
For listening to CD music, I will have to get something better.
