Cobra 454 Comp Driver Golf Club

I HAVE BEEN USING THE SAME SET OF GOLF CLUBS (BOTH WOODS & IRONS)SINCE 1969. IN THE LATE '60s I PLAYED GOLF DAILY. I CURRENTLY PLAY ABOUT 4 - 6 TIMES PER YEAR. I PLAY FAR LESS BUT WHEN I DO - I HIT THE BALL FAR MORE OFTEN!!
DURING MY MOST RECENT ROUND, ONE OF THE MEMBERS OF MY FOURSOME SUGGESTED I TRY HIS DRIVER. I BELIEVE HIS EXPRESSION WAS, "DAN, TRY A REAL MAN'S CLUB". HIS INVITATION CAME AFTER I HAD JUST SLAMMED MY OWN DRIVE ABOUT TEN YARDS DOWNRANGE AND PERHAPS FIFTEEN YARDS TO THE LEFT.
I WAS WILLING TO TRY SOMETHING - ANYTHING - NEW IN HOPES OF IMPROVING MY DRIVES. THIS BECAME MY FIRST FORAY INTO THE OVERSIZED HEAD UNIVERSE. THE INITIAL RESULT WAS AN APPROX. 275 YARD SHOT ALMOST SURGICALLY PLACED DEAD CENTER IN THE FAIRWAY. TRULY A MAN'S GOLF SHOT WHICH DREW BOTH PRAISE AND APPLAUSE FROM MY COMPANIONS.
THIS GENTLEMAN WAS KIND ENOUGH TO LET ME USE HIS DRIVER ABOUT SIX MORE TIMES THAT ROUND AND WHILE EACH SHOT WAS NOT PERFECT - EACH WAS A VAST IMPROVEMENT OVER MY 1960's EQUIPMENT.

WHEN I ARRIVED HOME, I RELAYED THIS STORY TO MY PARTNER STACY AND WITH HER AT THE HELM, WE BEGAN CYBER SHOPPING. MY FIRST REACTION WAS "STICKER SHOCK" IN NOTING THAT THE COST OF THIS DRIVER NEW WAS ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE COST OF MY ENTIRE SET OF CLUBS PLUS BAG PURCHASED WAY BACK WHEN.
THANKS TO STACY AND ebay I AM NOW THE PROUD OWNER OF A USED (YOU'D NEVER KNOW IT)COBRA 454 COMP DRIVER WITH NEW HEAD COVER AND GRIP WITH A "STICKER PRICE" THAT SHOCKS OTHERS AND PLEASES ME NO END.
MY DESIRE TO PLAY GOLF IS ON THE UPSWING WHICH IS GREAT. NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT ebay. I'M ALMOST CERTAIN THAT I WILL RETURN TO ebay TO "ROUND OUT" MY PURCHASE WITH PERHAPS ANOTHER 13 COBRA CLUBS. THIS IS NOT SO GREAT!
AS A GOLFER STARTING OVER, THIS COBRA 454 DRIVER HAS BOTH REINVENTED AND REDIFINED THE WORD "SWEETSPOT" IN MY WORKING VOCABULARLY.

I recently purchased a Cobra 454 Comp w/ an Aldila NV 65g stiff shaft that has changed my game! This club has forced me to work on my short game (inside 75 yards) because that's where I am most of the time on par 4's off the tee. With my old driver, a good hit would be 225 to 250 yards with an occasional "bomb" of maybe 275. With this club I am consistently 250 to 275 yards and my "bombs" are 300 to 325. Oh, and if you hit it off the toe with this club, you can expect to be maybe 5 or 10 yards off the fairway (instead of being in the next fairway).

this club's head have low weight center. I didn't know how this will affect. It generated high launching. This club had 9 degree but has higher launching than 10.5 degree taylormade 580XD. Stiff shaft ys-5.5 is softer than regular taylormade clubs. I guess it's one of most flex shifts amang general brands.
Has 15 to 20 yards more distance than my previous driver but it took so much time for me to adjust on it. Club head is so big that I never missed hitting the ball.

This driver has a very hot face, the sound is like a bullet, very powerful of the tee! With the right shaft and spine aligned this makes for the perfect club.

this cobra driver is very well balanced and easy to hit. cobra is an excellent driver to help improve driving distance and accuracy. The forgiveness of this driver will boost your confidence which will help you gat a faster, more controlled swing.

Purchasing golf clubs online can be an iffy proposition, but I've been very lucky/successful so far.

I acquired the Cobra 454 Comp, with 9 degree loft and a Grafalloy stiff shaft, from an eBay seller. It arrived in near perfect condition and was ready to use right out of the box.

While hitting the first bucket with this club, I noticed two things immediately: 1) the sound of the comp is much softer than my previous Cobra driver, and 2) I was bombing the ball to the end of the driving range! The sound is muted, I suppose, because of the composite top and will take a bit of getting used to. The length of my drives, and the gentle draw that this club was supposed to provide are both welcome additions to my bag.

Playing my first "competitive" round with this driver, I was 10 - 20 yards longer and probably at least that much straighter than my last driver. Being able to hit the drive to a pre-selected area of the fairway is MUCH more fun than just hoping for the SAME fairway! I love this club, the way it feels, and the confidence I have when using it. This may not be Cobra's newest or best, but it certainly was an upgrade for me and is working beautifully in my game.

I have not received my purchase and it has been a month since it was paid for. Pay Pal hasn't contacted me in regards to my case either.

What a steal. I have played the 440 and 460 sz and was looking for the right loft and shaft. I found them in the 454 Comp and didn't expect the increase in performance, but the 454 is even better. All 3 are better than any other brand, but the 454 is amazing...long, high, accurate. Not too biased towards draw, which I was concerned about. I can fade or draw this club easily. If the airlines don't break it, I'll be playing this one for a long time...

The 454 Comp is a very forgiving driver and has many of the same characteristics as the 460SZ. The only difference being that this club is lighter than the 460SZ due to the multiple materials that make up the head. The only drawback I can find with the club is it makes less noise off the tee than the 460SZ.

As my buddy had one, he let me drive it when we were out and I just had to have one. I'm consistently 20 - 30 yds longer off the tee and a lot straighter than normal. Maybe it's the confidence the oversized head gives, maybe it's just owning a new club. Either way, who cares!! It's changed my game, and I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for some distance, with accuracy, off the tee. Sometimes on shorter par 4's it can put you "too close" to the green it's so powerful.

Cobra 454 9 degree, regular mitsubishi rayon 45 gram shaft.
Pretty stable. Light weight. It doesn't necessarily produce longer shot.
For me, I would say Cobra hs9 was better. Longer.

I have tried many drivers and this one is the longest and straightest one I have found. Please let me know if you can find fairway woods for me.

I love my COBRA COMP 454 - it was the best looking one available at the time on EBAY.

My only dislike was it had a senior shaft and it was very whippy on the course. But I turned this into a like because I had my local pro shop change out shafts with my old driver.

Now I hit this driver 20 yards further than my old driver and hit more fairways.

The club was delivered as described and in good playing condition.The delivery time was a little longer than expected, but I have never bought anything from Canada. I'm sure the delivery was as soon as possible. Yhank you.

You want distance, this is it. Your friends will have sore jaws from dropping them all day with the bombs off the tee

I bought this driver for my son who likes BOOM it and since he thinks JB Holmes is THE MAN (supposedly this is the driver he used or uses), I thought we'd give it a try. the price was cheap and seller offered to re-grip it free (unfortunately he re-gripped it over the old tape which turned it into an oversize grip, so I had to have re-done). so I didn't feel I had much to lose.
I read several other reviews of this driver before I purchased it and they seem
accurate, although we've only used it a few times. IF you catch the ball with the right tempo, it is DEFINITELY longer...off on your tempo and you'll push or pull it every time..so I feel this is a driver for the experienced player.
I believe both Cobra and Cleveland have discontinued making composite heads because of problems, so I'd look into that before purchasing one for alot of money

Had hit one of these before, and hit it 30 yards farther than my Taylormade. Re-shafted it with a fujikura Cobra x-stiff shaft and it hits bombs!!! Highly recommend it, mine cost $40 so they are affordable.

I purchased the Cobra 454 along with the matching 3 wood. It arrived a few days later perfectly packaged and in great condition. I couldn't be more pleased.

The club is outstanding. I had a problem with my old driver (too much fade/slice). Now with this Cobra Driver, I'm not only a good 15 yards longer, but I'm also straighter and can actually hit a draw ball flight. Couldn't ask for more in a club. Would buy another one tomorrow if I had to. Only a couple of rounds with this club and I have restored my confidence in driving the ball aggressively.

The product was misrepresented ! The caps as the person called them on the bottom of the driver were really wts. for the driver. When I took the club to a repair specialist at golfsmith they said in and atempt to install the stiff flex shaft that did not come with the driver originally it was over heated and those plastic caps the seller on auction called them were mfr. wts. Golfsmith tried to get this covered under warranty but was told by cobra they would not cover it due to the after market shaft being installed and over heated to get the head removed. I had to personally rebuild the driver in order to use it.
