The 150 is not meant to be a CB radio, it is a 10 meter ham that needs physical conversion (illegal) to transmit and receive on cb frequencies. After these conversions have been made you get poor transmission on the high power setting, but ok on the low side, which is still a lot more powerful than a stock cb. My suggestion is to get something other than a Cobra if you want to talk on the cb band at high power.

Cobra has created the competition for those many export CB radios. This radio receives and transmits exceptionally well over many many miles. I have recieved only compliments on this radio for its transmission up and down the highway and in the city. It's the right amount of power in a package that is easy to handle and work with. Plus, I got a $100 rebate from the manufacture. I use a little Wilson antenna. The radio has talk-back and echo control, swr meter, nightwatch illumination and a whole lot of channels in 4 banks from am to fm, plus pa capability. I keep it on the one - nine. The down side of this rig is you are supposed to have an amateur radio license to operate it, but those are the rules, not laws. I recommend it highly for CB'ers, but for hammers - it's channelized, so they don't like it.

Yes, The Cobra 150 is for 10 meter use, But if tuned correctly and done the right way this radio is a great 10-11 meter radio. If tune as it should be, the radio performs on low or high power flawlessly. It has very nice sound quailty and has been given great reviews from people who have heard them in operation. Strong radio, good audio and excellant receive. have owned and sold many of these radios.

Great Amateur radio. Crisp clear sounding. Surfacemount / mosfet design is great full framed heat sink. only complaint is Just why is there echo on a amateur radio?????

I am disappointed that, for all the features this radio has, that it does not have Side Band.
Otherwise, it seems to do a good job if not modified to receive and transmit on 11 Meters. I think most of the problems arise from modifying a rig to do something other than what it was meant to do.

This radio has nightwatch display and a SWR warning light which is one of the most important features on any radio. You also have talkback and echo controls and you can adjust the brightness for night time driving. It has 15W on AM/FM power and dual finals for steady power. I think Cobra makes a durable and quality product. Our trucking company has several drivers using Cobra and hardly ever have a problem with them.

This radio has EARS coming and going. Great transmit too. This would be one of the most ideal trucker radios. It has that lighted night time driving panel.
The downside is it is no wheres near as quiet as the 1st generation president jacksons or cobra 148 gtls..if there is noise anywheres it will get into this radio,at least awhiles until you leave that area (usually it's an outside transformer). Or put in a noise filter. But for a trucker? It should be ideal- I love mine!
