Reviews Review created: 07/07/08 by: mgreen33602 ( 9 ) This book is a teriible book if you are looking to learn how to build a cnc machine. Now if you would like to own a book which is nothing more than a note book of sketchy ideas, this is it. It containes some 60 pages or more of data sheets of which if I really needed the information could have been obtained from the manufacturer. You will learn more by joining the yahoo groups. They discuss what is available and how to use what you have in a do it yourself atmoshphere. Review ID: 10000000007866192 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 06/09/07 by: 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. I already have quite an extensive library on the subject of Electronics and Computers. I am currently in the process of designing and building some CNC Machinery that is specific to the craft of making Pool Cues. I have recently decided to return to cuemaking after a 30 year hiatus, and found that there is little in the way of affordable, automated cuemaking machinery available to craftsmen. So I decided to design and build my own. I searched the local bookstores for information that applied to the subject. I read several books and although I did gain considerable knowledge on the subject, I was still not ready to begin. I lacked much of the knowledge needed to implement computer controls of the equipment. One day, while I was looking at available plans for CNC Routers on ebay, I saw the auction page for "CNC Robotics" by Geoff Williams. I read up on it and decided that this book was exactly what I needed to round out my knowledge of homebrew CNC devices. I checked all the local bookstores for a copy of it, to no avail. So I purchased it using "buy it know" on ebay. It took a few days to get it, but it was well worth the wait. If I had found this book first, it would have saved me the several hundred dollars that I spent on all the other books I had bought on the subject. This book is perfect for anyone that lacks all but the very basic understanding of electricity, computers and machine work. It is brimming with all of the necessary information to design and build your own custom CNC Machinery, at a bargain price. Geoff even tells us where to aquire the necessary components, and what types of equipment one might be able to salvage much of it from. On a scale of one to ten, I rate this book an eleven. If your planning to build a CNC Machine, you need this book. Best Regards, Wheel--Man. Review ID: 10000000003782891 Was this review helpful?
