This (LDI with reg steel shaft) is a beautiful stick, and it would be the most beautiful in my bag, if it made the grade. The rub is that it doesn't make the grade. I bought this to replace my 4 iron, possibly the 3 iron...I had high hopes. I'm not sure if the shaft isn't so wonderful or if the head has a problem, but I can easily out hit the LDI with my regular steel shaft 4 iron. I feel I gave the LDI a fair chance, as I struck at least 15 balls with it. But, right away, I could tell this club wasn't going to get it past 185 with my best swing at its hardest. At the same range, moments after, I was striking my 4 iron 180-195. (I've read rave reviews on this club. Go figure.)

  Cleveland LDI Hybrid Iron
Review created: 07/09/09

I picked up a used 24* Cleveland LDI Hybrid iron at my local proshop on a whim. It is now my favorite club in my bag. I find it much easier to hit then my lower irons ans higher woods. I actually picked up a used 18* off of ebay and hit it just as well. They make them in 18*, 21*, and 24* lofts with graphite Adila Hybrid shafts or standard steel shafts. Both of mine have the Aldila Hybrid graphite shafts in stiff flex. I will be grabbing the 24* off of ebay soon to complete the set.

The 18* LDI club I bought has the perfect shaft for my swing speed--graphite R flex. The sound when I hit the ball is powerful. Distance for me is excellent.

  Better than tradional hybrids.
Review created: 12/20/08

It looks better at address than tradional clubs. My son has an 18 degree, I tried it, and liked it.

Cleveland LDI hybrid 21* w/ Aldila shaft
Review created: 05/19/08

WOW!! This club is perfect for anyone who prefers the look of an iron over a hybrid, but who wants to benefit from the same technology. It looks like a 3 iron at address, but feels like a cannon with a silencer when you nail it. I bought this club to substitute for my driver on days when I'm a little wild, and it has greatly surpassed my expectations. Some days I hit my driver about 270 yards towards the nearest tree, but when I use this club and flatten my plane out a little it flies 220 right down the middle. I beleive in the Aldila NV shaft and it is a confidence builder when you step up to a tight par 4 and you know this thing is going straight. I used to outdrive my (hacker) friends with my 3 iron, for fun, but now they are all on Ebay looking for one of these. Pay the $30 just to try this club, you can always resell it on ebay. Oh, and if you want to hit a laser from under a tree, just swing easy and lean forward at impact. This is a true utility club, you can keep those big-headed hybrids.
p.s. My 5 wood is jealous and may have to come out of the bag.---DAVE

  Great for control with distance

I find this club very useful when my driver is erratic (well, I am!) I use my LDI with a 3/4 swing (to 9 o'clock), have the ball teed up just behind centre, and hit it to 200 - 220m, which is 20m or so short of my driver.
A great club for the Tiger-style stinger!
