This club hits so long its like an atom bomb

Wow, thats about all I can say. I found it a little harder to use than the Taylormade R360, but it sure hits a mile. If you take a full swing and connect fairly well with the sweet spot, it really goes an absolute mile, like watching a cannon. Its quite impressive.

Its designed really well, and is definately worth trying, it can hit some massive drives, and I found I could hit dead straight and/or with a slight fade. I found it hard to draw the ball, but I find it difficult to draw no matter what club, so thats no big deal.

The sheer feel of the club is quite confident, making you feel like you're about to slam down an atom bomb on the fairway. Its one of the most enjoyable clubs to use, because if you time it well, you really feel it fly off the face with gusto.

The shaft is very strong and I found Regular flex definately my preference, as the stiff in the Cleveland models I thought was quite stiff.

Hitting a high ball isn't a problem either, or if you prefer hitting low flight trajectories I found also quite easy by altering your ball placement, and the club really works well for either tries. Most drivers don't seem to perform so well on both traits, but I was quite surprised by this one.

I hope this review helps.

Cleveland Launcher 460 Driver Golf Club
Review created: 07/14/10

This is a fantastic driver. It is from 2004, one of the first 460 cc drivers. They got it right way back then, because it gives me more distance than any of the latest model drivers I have tried. Extremely hot face that has a boring flight and rolls out much more the super deep cg clubs of today. It is weighted just perfectly, which really helps create great tempo. Specially considering you can pick one up for less than $50.

Cleveland 460 Launcher - love it!

I've tried quite a few drivers, and, for me, this is the best of the best. Was fitted on a Launch Monitor, use a ProV1 ball, am 57 yrs. old, 5'9, 185 lbs, 93-95 mph clubhead speed..... the 9.5* loft and R flex shaft gave me the best consistent results and distance.

I can hit fades or draws if wanted but have to work at it as the ball wants to fly high & straight. Decent swings get good results, good swings get excellent results.

Get decent feedback, can usually tell from the feel what kind of contact I made and where on the face. The head sits up well to the ball, alignment isn't a problem. It's not flashy looking like some which is fine with me, however my biggest knock on it is that I think the gold color of the stock shaft is king of ugly (no big deal).

The price is better than some, which makes the 460 Launcher an outstanding value in my opinion.

This Driver is helping this older round-belly keep up with a lot of the young flat-bellies off the tee. I had a 2.4 handicap 6-7 years ago, probably closer to a 10 now because I don't get out as much and have lost some consistency, but the foregiveness of the Launcher helps make up for my practicing less.

Enjoy!

Easy to hit and very long. Really enjoy this driver.
Review created: 10/03/09

Easy to hit. Excellent looking driver. Have lowered my scores. Large sweet spot. Senior flex. A very professional driver to use. Several tour pros won tournaments with this driver. Easy to swing and not heavy or tiring to use. Made by a reputed golf equipment company. I have used this driver about 4 times in the last month and I am able to stay up with the big boys off the tee. I am 60 years old and can really put the ball way out there. Even off center hits travel a long distance. The more I use this driver the more of a believer I am becoming on the new technology. Before this driver I had a taylor made 360 which I thought I would never let go but this new driver has replaced it permanently. My confidence off the tee has truly risen.

Cleveland Launcher 460 Driver - Still a strong performe
Review created: 06/07/07

Great Driver - still one of the classics. I bought the original one new 3 yrs. ago for $300, and it still keeps pace with the 2007 models that cost $450. The design is classic, with a great profile that uses full advantage of 460cc, without looking like a kids club. The response with the Aldila NV 65 shaft is immediate, and in a recent club test that I did with the newest Cleveland, Callaway (not the boxy 460) and Ping G5, I still put the Cleveland Launcher 460 ahead of all based on distance, accuracy and $$$.

I liked this club so much that I bought a couple of spares on Ebay to hold me over for the next several years.

  Pull Out the Whoopin Stick!!
Review created: 07/20/09

I went to the local golf pro shop and demoed a couple of drivers: TaylorMade R9, Callaway Diablo and the Cleveland Launcher. After hitting a couple of times the distance I got with the Launcher was 20 to 30 yards further. The salesman tried to sell me on the $249 price tag and I was hearing none of it. I was sold on the Launcher but not the price tag. Found a used Launcher 460Ti and played my first round with it Saturday with no practice. Absolutely love it. I was hitting drives in the 285 to 290 range and this was without any practice at the driving range. Can't wait to to get back on the course for a full 18!! Absolutley awesome club!!! A beast off the tee box!!

  The Cleveland Launcher 460 Driver.
Review created: 02/04/08

This gem is perhaps the finest driver that Cleveland has made. It is well balanced and has a beautiful feel. Thye club face is deeper than the Hi Bore and I believe there is more hitting surface than the Hi Bore. It suits my game very well. I bought it so that I could have a matched set of woods with the same shaft. I love the look of it.

Previously, I owned a Cleveland Launcher 400. One day, I broke this driver and a fellow in my group had the Launcher 460 with the Aldila 65 shaft. First time ever, I tee'd it up and hit this driver well over 300 yards, which was 25 yards farther than my previous driver. I thought it was a fluke, but I continued to hit every drive that day 300 yards or better. I, therefore, couldn't wait to get on on ebay. There is absolutely no better driver at any price; not the G5, the new Callaways, Nike's, etc. Just hit this club once or twice and you will be posting your comments right her too.

  Cleveland Launcher Gold Golf Club
Review created: 09/08/06

I purchased the Cleveland Launcher Gold driver golf club because I played well with it when I was playing with a friend who had the club in their golf bag. I like it because it gets the ball up in the air quickly. It also gives me more distance than my previous club.

I'm not a very good golfer, 27 handicap. Last year I didn't carry a driver in my bag because I couldn't keep it on the fairway.

I went to a local golf demo-days and tried several drivers; R7, SasQuatch, etc. This Launcher way low on my level of interest, but I was impressed after I hit it.

I've played a few rounds with it and have been impressed with the sweet spot. I've been keeping it in play (for the most part) even when hitting off center.

The Best Driver For Me, I've Tried Several Others.
Review created: 06/05/06(updated 10/13/06)
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I am a 7 handicap golfer from Baton Rouge Louisiana. I got hooked on the Cleveland 460cc Launcher the first time I tried it. It was actually the first 460cc driver I ever purchased. It has the stock Fujikura gold stiff factory shaft 10.5 deg. I had to try the others to really make sure this was the one for me and that I was not missing out on something. I bought off of e-bay the Ping G2, Taylormade, Titleist, and the Adams Redline. I did not get the accuracy, the feel, or the distance I was getting from my Cleveland so I sold all of them. I am a perfectionist so I actually bought another Cleveland as a back up in case I lost or broke mine. I got it for $150.00 off of e-bay brand new with the plastic wrapping still on it. I haven't had to use it yet, it's still sitting in my shop. This driver will stay in my bag. A lot of the pro's are playing this driver and for a good reason. I hope this review helps you with your driver purchase. Randall

  Launcher 460 7.5 degree
Review created: 05/07/10

I love the simplicity of the look at address. Still somewhat traditional looking for a 460cc head. Performs as well or better than the new "so-called technology". Would HIGHLY recommend. Def the best driver I've ever hit. I bought this because of Cleveland's reputation and because of the very resonable price. An amazing vey pleasant suprise.

May your drives hop, and your putts drop!

Luke

  Old Cleveland driver
Review created: 01/07/10

I have been looking for a used Cleveland driver because they don't make them anymore. Most golf pro shops don't carry used clubs any more and ebay is an excellent place to find them and the price is usually attractive. I was very satisfied with the condition of the club.

Hey there golf fans, let me just summarize this by saying this is a sweet driver and it is the best driver I have ever hit, I have been through alot of different drivers but I keep coming back to this model from the Cleveland Launcher series. Cleveland struck gold with this club, it is very easy to hit and it is very long as well. You will not be disappointed, pick one up today if you can find one as they are becoming scarce.

when the 460 launcher first came out my brother and I both hit it. I was dead set on getting a taylor made driver. Hitting range balls with the launcher they were landing in another area all together. With the taylor made driver I had to catch it really good and solid to get the ball to go as far as the launcher. I hit some off the toe and heel on the launcher the ball would still be out there. My brother's a 4 handicap and I am a 7 handicap my clubs were stolen and I bought new clubs the ping G-10 driver. Hitting the G-10 I went right back to averaging 268 off the Tee. With the Cleveland I was 289. I on occasion in the round would clock The Launcher out there 330 and have a couple out over 300 yards. With this G-10 I would catch one I think it was 295. I had to go back to the old style cleveland Launcher 460 before the composite and way before the Hibore.

i tell a lot of my friends who might not be the best golfers in the world that the game is not all about score but feel, trajectory, sound and enjoyment; all of which are reasons i purchased the launcher. it has a nice feel when you stripe a shot and even when you don't the off-center hits don't feel horrible. i can get a number of different trajectories out of my 9.5 launcher depending what i need but to send one soaring toward the clouds is as good as it gets. the thing i like most about this club however is the sound; it is like a metallic explosion that actually sometimes hurts my ears. i told a fellow recently that even if i don't hit it as long as a tour pro, my launcher makes it sound as if i do. the one drawback of the club i bought is the standard flex shaft which seems a bit whippy to me even though my swing speed is mid nineties. all in all a fun club

I spent a lot of time hitting the new drivers - Cleveland Hibore, Nike Sasquatch, Callaway Fusion, and the Speed Series Cobra. This club though seemed to perform just as well as the new ones (although I did hit the Sasquatch the best). I previously played a Titleist E, and with this new club I am much more consistent and have gained distance.

Cleveland Launcher 460 is a Great Club!

I own multiple drivers always seeking something new. The R7 425 probably comes the closest, but the Launcher 460 still has an edge. The combination of looks, feel and sound off the face is great! I think the Fujikura shaft that comes with the club is also paired well with the head for a stock shaft, but I replaced the shaft with a Fujikura 569 that really spanks the ball another 10 yards. I will never give this club up!

Love this club. I gained 12-15 yards off the tee without sacrificing accuracy. It is a newer version of my old Launcher 400. The sound when I make solid contact is impressive and makes it feel even better.

  'Launcher' Says It All
Review created: 03/18/09

My ex-wife bought this driver for me a few years ago and I mashed it. I tend to hit a low ball but when I hit this club I could hit a higher more penetrating ball flight. It would carry to the point where the Cobra I was using would quit rolling and since it had that penetrating ball flight it would go past the Cobra at least 20 to 25 yards. The only thing I have problems with is it is hard to hit a fade with this club, straight and draw are there everytime you tee it up. I got rid of the wife but will never get rid of this driver.

Review created: 12/05/07

This club is great for any golfer looking for some extra yards off the tee. I tend to have a fast swing so I decided to go with a shaft that is a bit more stiff than flex. I also liked the lower loft club head (8-9.5) because the ball shoots off the tee rather than getting caught up too high in the wind. I went with an 8.5 loft. The nice thing is the 460cc head tends to make up for any distance I might have lost with using a stiff shaft or the lower loft. I am a 14 handicap and love this club. If you have a quick swing and want to go longer,a bit more straight, and your looking to get a serious club that even tour pro's play; than this is one club to consider with confidence....enjoy!

  Best driver I've ever used.

When I was 20 I could anything long - now I'm 47 and thought I'd have to settle for short to be straight. Not with the ti460. I can swing easy and still go 270-280 down the middle. Mis-hits stay on or near fairway and still go 250. It's a great club for anybody, but especially for all of us who aren't a 2 handicap anymore. I borrowed it from my son and bought it used from him. I'm getting the fairway woods to go with it on e-bay. Tried them on a simulator and they hit just like the driver. The price tends to be a little on the high end, but the hollow body with low weighting and light head make them different than the other high priced drivers - they hit long and are still forgiving. If you can't keep it on the fairway with the big drivers without backing off to keep it straight, buy this club.

Review created: 07/03/06

I could not keep a ball in the fairway and had no distance off the tee box, was useing a Cobra 400, a friend of mine got a new Cleveland 460 and let me hit it, WOW, next day i found one from 3balls on ebay got it at a great price. I would not trade it for any other driver. Picked up 15 to 20 yards and stay mostly in the fairway now. I got the 460 with 10.5 deg loft and stock shaft in reg flex. Cant go wrong with this club

Cleveland 460 10.5 Driver Reg Flex
Review created: 06/15/06
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I have hit many drivers and have never had a better driver. I love Taylor Made fairway and rescue woods but this Cleveland is the best driver out there. I swing around 93 mph and shoot an average of 90 and my scores are between 80-100. For slower swing speeds and I REG shaft you can't beat this driver - my buddy who swings harder and has the STIFF loves his as well. Try it and you'll like it! The head size is perfect - the sound is loud but scares my competition and I actually think the gold shaft and grey head look cool! Cleveland drivers have suprisingly won me over!
