Cleo the Cat by Caroline Mockford, Stella Blackstone (2001, Hardcover)

Great illustrations and simple concepts/story make this book ideal for a young toddler just discovering books. We have several Barefoot Books and love them all. The very colorful illustrations keep our little one interested as we read.

This particular book seems most ideal for the very young child since the story and illustrations are pretty simple. Some of our other Barefoot Books seem like they might better hold our toddler's interest over the span of more years since the illustrations and stories are a bit more complex but at the same time still interesting to a young toddler who may not yet get/see/understand all the concepts but can grasp the simpler concepts now and will grow into the more complex ones later. While I do like this and our other Cleo book, I wouldn't add too many of these really simple books to our toddler's library since I believe they will be grown out of pretty quickly.
