The book is an excellent read. However, since I was forced to buy it at my university's over priced bookstore I cannot explain to you that it was prompt. I ordered this book in mid-December expecting to have it before classes resumed on the 20th of January and never received it. I tried to contact ebay and to no avail, no response. Furthermore, my credit card was charged. In sum, I never received the book, my credit card was charged, I paid nine times the cost for the book at my university bookstore, and I never received a response or an apology.

Sincerely,

Chad R. Plambeck

  Second Time Around Reading
Review created: 12/01/09

I read this book when it first came out 1996. And since then the political stage has been extremely active, changing, expanding and progressing in ways that are sometimes not understood unless you have had a road map. I remembered over and over as events unfolded these past years many of the things that Samuel P. Huntington said in this book seemed to be that road map actually coming to frustration before my eyes. As the events of our time are unfolding at even a greater pace than any of us can imagine, I wanted to refresh my recollection of Huntington's provocative speculations of the World Order as it applies to today - some 13 years later. Because of his memorable insights into international events, I found myself wanting to re-read this book and so I bought my second copy.

You will find this book every bit amazing as I do, you will find and understand the effects of Civilizations upon the World stage and why it is so important for all us to be aware of the political landscapes that are shaping our destiny. Its a bold statement about the future of the World and mankind of which you will understand as you can clearly see the events from your front role seat.

Get this book you will learn more than you can imagine, and you will remember what you read long after you have read it.

  glad I found this

The seller described this book as having some highlighting throughout the book, but she failed to mention what great shape the book was in! As for the highlighting--it was perfect as the notations were the same as my daughter was learning in class. I'm glad I purchased this item.

  Excellent Resource

Huntington was ahead of his time when he predicted that Islam and the West would be huge adversaries in the twenty-first century. But this book is not just about Islamic-Western relations, it is about international politics as a whole. Huntington's case that the defining conflicts in the decades to come will not occur between different states (i.e. Germany versus Britain in WWI) or ideologies (i.e. capitalism versus communism in the Cold War) as in the past, but between different civilizations, is dead-on.
