Clapton by Eric Clapton (2007, Hardcover)

I give Eric credit for continuing to be a player through so much adversity. All the people in music & mentioned in the book admire Eric and think he is a pretty special guy. He is not the greatest writer but you get the message.
The years of Clapton's youth were wild ones. Everyone was doing drugs. Many were drinking. Young people like to party. Eric had plenty, even more, opportunites to party than most, he is only human. He made lots of terrible mistakes. And He has paid his dues for them. But he has matured and has continued to play. I would have loved to see more pictures of the what he describes as 'back in the day'. A must read for Clapton Fans, and for those unfamiliar with those times...if you're not a 'baby boomer' read this book and learn!

We must admit that we're huge Clapton fans, so we were greatly anticipating this book. It didn't disappoint. The prose is well written, giving a clear overview of Clapton's amazing life and music. If you want a TELL ALL Clapton book, look somewhere else! This isn't the kind of gossipy trash you might expect from a rock star's biography.

Our favorite section involves an unusual number of references to something very important in Clapton's life (this clue for serious Clapton fans only). We decided to get four copies for our friends, parents, a niece and our pastor. Feedback has generally been positive.

I loved this book, and I was amazed at how modest and self deprecating Eric Clapton is throughout it. The stories He shares range from personal anguish, fascinating interactions with other artists, and mountain top highs. The book is so well crafted, I felt like I was right there with him as I devoured it.

Amazing in-depth Autobiography about one of the greatest musicians of our time. It covers all the details of his drug abuse, affair with George Harrison's wife Pattie Boyd (Layla) and the death of his young son. This is a must read for fans of Clapton, fans of music and fans of a good book.....

I gave this book to my brother for Christmas. He loves it. I decided to buy this because my brother is a huge Clapton fan.

Good price. The book was more than a month late. Must have been trouble during the holiday rush. I ordered book in late novemeber and it didn't come until january.

I have been a guitar nut for the last ten years or so, and Eric Clapton has always been in the top 3 of all time. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the book and I hate to see it end. His life has been a journey like no other. He truely must have an angel on his shoulder. I read it mostly before I go to sleep, and find myself fighting to stay awake to continue reading it. If my review counts for anything, BUY THIS BOOK! YOU WILL LOVE IT! Robert

I bought this book as a Christmas gift and never received it! The "contact seller" never changed to "file a claim", so I am not sure how to go about it. This was a very bad experience!

Interesting aspects of Clapton's early life. Makes you wonder how rock stars ever survive the life style. If you are a Clapton fan you will enjoy the book.

Any Clapton fan will find this book a treasure. A great glimpse into all periods of his life. Genuine & Honest. Recommended for fans and non fans. A great look into addiction and hardships.

Such an awesome read for such an incredibly talented person. He has been through so much in life, and to have made it and be such an awesome guitar player, it is awe inspiring. Highly recommended book!

I purchased this book about Eric Clapton expecting it to be a good read. I didn't expect it to be as raw and spellbinding as it was. The sort of book you can't put down. It left me feeling Eric Clapton was not just the Super Star as imagined. His life story was as real as anyone who had a rough childhood, did drugs for recreation, and made a success in spite of himself through his music. He didn't leave much to the imagination of what his life was all about. The addition of his romance with Patti Boyd explained the emotions behind his "Layla." I recommended the book to many people and everyone really loved it. If you are a Clapton fan, this is a must read!! You might want to read it twice, too!! There is no other Clapton book like this one.

I'll be honest, I bought the book because I had gotten it from the library and my dog chewed up that copy.However, I could have just bought it and given it back, but having been halfway through when it was chewed, I was determined to finish it, and I'm glad I did. I grew up in the 60's and 70's, so Eric Clapton and his various groups was part of my youth. In his book, he is honest about his failings and why the groups he was part of didn't last very long. I had also read Patti Hanson's book, so I was intrigued to hear his side of their relationship as well. While I knew why he had written "Tears from Heaven", he also gave his motivation for writing so many of his other songs. I would recommend this book, especially to baby-boomers such as myself.

Bought Eric Clapton book hard cover used. Purchased bcause i originally had it new, read 3/4 of it and left it on airplane! Had to read end chapter of book!

I really like to learn about some of the most inspiring musicians and Eric Clapton is one of them. Even though all his hardship with his parents and his real mother he had to go somewhere to have that would void out his pain. That why I think his music is so great to listen too. Also how the book is set up though the stages of his life experience with each band, each partner, and just how he will deal with tham though some of the songs he had wrote is amazing. The reason I bought the book just because of the Artist himself.
