Claire Shaeffer's Fabric Sewing Guide by Claire B. Shaeffer (1995, Paperback, Updated)

I was everything I wanted. I bought this and another book called the encyclopedia of stitchery. The second book is like a sewing bible!!! I am very pleased to buy books on ebay. and the opportunity to search by ISBN number makes finding what im looking for very easy. Go Ebay.

I like that it is comprehensive. This is very detailed it is also a very large book 532 pages. Part 1 covers Fiber content, 2 Fabric Structure, 3 Surface Characteristics, 4 Linings and Interfacings, 5 Sewing Techniques, 6 Fabric and Fiber Dictionary. There is also and appendix which covers needles, thread, etc.
This is a great book, but I would have liked it tabbed for quick reference, or better yet in removable notebook form so I could make smaller books out of it. A quick reference section would be great too.

I HAVE OTHER BOOKS BY THE SAME AUTHOR, SHE ALWAY GIVE A GREAT PROSPECTIVE OF THE HOW, WHY,AND WHEN IT COME TO CREATING YOUR OWN FASHION GARMENT. THIS BOOK COVER WHAT AND WHEN TO THE RIGHT FABRIC FOR THE GARMENT.

One can be overwhelmed by the kinds of fabrics, needles needed etc.when choosing a project. To have a reference guide when you receive fabric store brochures helps the beginner and intermediate sewer understand value and use of these materials. Claire Shaeffer writes clearly and thoroughly about these fabrics.
