City of Evil [PA] by Avenged Sevenfold (CD, Jun-2005, Warner Bros. Records Record Label)

Downloaded a few songs, Liked them, So I bought the CD. Nice catchy sound fast beat. This CD makes you want to drive real fast. IN MY BOOOK THAT MAKES FOR A GREAT CD.

Wow, what a suprise. I remember watching their earlier videos and thinking that they were nothing special, just another screamo band. Then I heard The Harlot and the Beast on Sirius and decided to pick up the cd. I was blown away. No screaming, complex arrangements, and great guitar solos! The solo to Bat Country is the most aggressive, in your face solo that I've heard in a long time. This reminds me a bit of Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction when it first came out. I understand a lot of old A7X fans were not happy with this new direction, but it's really more old school. I you are open minded, like 80s metal, power metal, prog-metal, or if you are tired of most of the emo-metal and nu-metal that is currently popular, you should dig this cd.

Really kicks it up!!! The lead singer's voice is great.
Songs are all different from each other. Not your run
of the mill metal band.

I listened to this on my 8 hour drive, and i bever got tired of it, i know every word to every song now, and have been able to play most of the music just due to listening. It never gets old, and it will never get boring or annoying like most music. The other A7X (avenged sevenfold) albums were softer and more mellow, this one shows what they can really do. Synyster Gates is one of my favorite guitarists, and Zack Vengeance is my favorite rythym.

I recomend this CD to any metal fan. Clear vocals, excellent sound. I particualarly like the song "bat country".

I decided to buy this because it is the first mainstream band that I have heard in a long time that actually has talent. The album shows off this talent, but I just can't get over their ultra ghay image.....of all the bands out there that need a gimmick to survive, because their music wont cut it....Avenged didn't need a gimmick, but they decided they did, and took it to the extreme; makeup, fake names; fancy wardrobe; crappy hair cuts; props. disappointing because the music is good, kinda heavy metal with a bit of pop.

I listened to one of their songs, and it was awesome, i wasnt sure whether to purchase or not, but after alot of recommendation i purchased, and it one of my favourate cds, its unique, very fast, it has some comparison to dragon force, if your concidering purchasing, DO IT NOW!! Avenged Sevenfold are a really good heavy metal band with a contrasting voice to the music, which fits beautifuly, they were raised alongside Catholics in a strong Catholic school, which they hated the whole time. This has strongly influenced their music, and this album is based on revelations in the Bible giving a great evil effect. BUY IT NOW!!

They are amazing....much like GNR they smoothly transition between hard rock and heart wrenching ballads....

I personally love A7X, but this CD is filled with great songs and singles that are worth a million words. BUY IT!

I have owned this CD since its very release as I have with all of AX7's CD since Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. This band started out as a SCREAMO band as I saw it so lovingly put and has transformed into a carbon copy of Iron Maiden mixed with Metallica since signing with Warner Bros. This CD has a very mid 80's heavy metal feel to it and is well orchestrated in many ways from beginning to end. Many fans of this band did not take well to M.Shadows singing voice compared to his old style and I myself did not as well. His voice holds its own as such tracks as Beast and the Harlot, Burn It Down and most noteable of all the on the tracks M.I.A. and the Wicked End but on many of the tracks he does not hold notes to well. What you get is a nasal whine that is the equivalent of Steve Urkel trying to sing a rock song. I love this band I am not bashing them at all and love this CD but for those that love this band listen to this for the guitar riffs and excellent creation that only a band this good could make, but for those that really love this band stick with Waking the Fallen.

Heard these guys on the radio and thought it was an old 70's head-banging metal band, the kind I used to love. They really have that throw-back 70's metal sound, but still appeal to the hard rockers of today. City of Evil mixes it up, with hard-hitting guitar licks and orchestral backgrounds on the same disc. Gotta love it!

This is one of the newer bands that are putting metal back where it belongs!!! The price was great!!!

I was so excited to see that this CD was so cheap! It is in excellent condition and I am very happy about it! I'll definitely be buying from this seller in the future.

This music is unbelievably awesome. I'm 49 yrs. old and have never heard such great talent. Avenged Sevenfold has a very large variety of sounds, even in each song. I have to admit, my daughter turned me on to this band or I probably would never have listened to them. The lead singers voice is beautiful and powerful. The guitarists make their music sound like it would be impossible to play, the drummer has Great stamina. It makes me feel positive and good to listen to their music even though many of the songs and lyrics are about pain and doubt, just because of my amazement that anyone has such extreme talent. My favorite song-because of the beautiful sound is, The Wicked End. M.I.A. is my second favorite, but I really love all the songs on this CD. I think this is Avenged Sevenfolds best Album. I already have my own, but bought this copy as a gift for a friend.

Avenged Sevenfold are a band to remember. Synyser Gates rocks on guitar solos. Seize the Day & Beast and the Harlot are my favorite songs. Overall I recommend this CD.

Avenged Sevenfold, City of Evil is an amazing cd! Their music is great and their songs have a lot of meaning behind them! I cant choose favorite songs from this cd because they are all AMAZING!

Great album. If you love Avenged Sevenfold as much as I do, then you have to add this album to your collection

--this was well written, well played, extremely well handled, shows great talent, and avoids all the "scream and bang" to hide the lack of talent that most of the Metal bands seem to dive into.

I'm not a fan of Metal, but this CD is good-- or even more than good.
