City to City by Gerry Rafferty (CD, Jul-1996, EMI Records USA)

Yes, I reviewed "The Steelers Wheel Best Of" and this was the singer of that artist. But it still continues on with Gerry doing solo songs. I mean how can anyone not love the killer sax solo in "Baker Street" which is the ORIGINAL version & not that remixed version that recently was released on a "Best Of" album of "Wheel/Rafferty" that sounds like garbage. The album also contains other hits as well as his biggest hit already mentioned. He actually had more success then he did in "Steelers Wheel". Well, it is your turn to bid or "Buy It Out" on this highly recommended album. You can also can us on our website "Judemac Forever" if you search msn.

especially for the song Baker Street...the others on the CD are okay..not great

Awesome CD. Obviously Baker Street and Right Down the Line are the headliners of this CD which are in their original format, not remixed. The rest of the CD continues to add credit to Rafferty's music, particularly songs like City to City, Mattie's Rag, and Island. The only way you cannot like this CD is to not like Rafferty.

Still one of the best albums ever.

I decided to buy this CD because I remember most of the tunes from the 70's and 80's. What I loved about these songs, I still love...probably more now. The element of nostalgia is a big reason for the attraction. Gerry Rafferty seems to have a gift for epitomizing life in the late 70's through his music. To me it is mesmerizing, almost hypnotic, and the harmonies and chord progressions are brilliant. His melodic voice just goes right along with it! Favorite tunes are Home and Dry, Mattie's Rag, and of course Baker Street. Kudos to Rafferty for an outstanding collection of awesome tunes!!

This is an excellent remake and remastered classic that is a must have for any body who grew up in the era.

The songs; Baker Street, and Right Down The Line, were the reason for me buying the CD/Album. The other tunes are mostly enjoyable, and overall the purchase was very good.

Growing up in the '70s, songs like 'Baker Street' and 'Right Down The Line' were played on top-40 radio as well as some of the cooler FM stations. City To City became a chart-topper, reaching #1 on Billboard's Hot 200. I bought the album, and found early on that these other songs became just as memorable for me.

I really enjoy most of the songs on this album, from the opening 'The Ark' to the fun-tempoed 'Mattie's Rag.' 'Stealin' Time' could easily have been another single, to my ears, while 'Whatever's Written In Your Heart' goes on a little too long, but it's still well written. This music is a throwback to a time when songwriting and performance really mattered, and Gerry Rafferty and company created a solid effort throughout this album. It truly is more than just the hits 'Baker Street' and 'Right Down The Line.'

I purchased a CD in good faith 2/1/08. Paid for it with PayPal. To date I have not received any reply from the seller after four email or the product. At this point it's under investigation by PayPal. I'd just like to receive the item and get this whole thing behind us. Otherwise, virtually everyone I've dealt with on eBay whether I'm the seller or buyer has been very positive and rewarding. I will go to almost any lengths to keep my winning bidders satisfied. I wish every other eBay seller had the same objective. It's not the money (in this case a whopping $10.49) it's the lack of respect on the part of the seller who has brushed me off so far. That is unacceptable behavior.

The CD itself is in great condition, plays well etc. but the case was in bad shape with no liner at all. I like to read about the artist, have a songlist or at least the cover art. It was disappointing. The case, for me, is part of the total music experience.
